Introduction
Anger is a normal emotion among the people, but sometimes it becomes a stern problem if not controlled properly. Causes of violence include stress, poor social situations, trauma, drug addiction, and mental disability among others. Uncontrolled anger causes physical health problems such as blood pressure; it affects the mental health negatively, destroys relationships and careers. Therefore, there is the need to come up with strategies that will help people in identifying the possible triggers and methods of calming down anger. Anger management activities should play a significant role in creating the connection between the mind and body. It implies that an individual should use their thoughts well to influence their bodies positively. The paper covers the anger management programs that help in prompting the connected nature of the mind-spirit-body.
Anger management programs aid an individual to control their anger and stress in efforts to reduce the physical and mental violence. Each program should have a close link with the mind- spirit-body connections and approaches for it to be more efficient. The first step of the program is to identify the triggers and symptoms of anger in an individual. The identification of triggers helps an individual to stay away from the triggers to ensure that a peaceful environment is created to help in the gathering of thought and calming down (Faupel, Herrick & Sharp, 2010). Various physical warnings such as stomach-knotted feelings and a massage that help to relieve such tension from the affected body part are involved in anger management. After the identification of the triggers and signs, ten ways of dealing with anger are introduced. Such a program includes engagement in physical exercise that helps the body to release much energy emanating from anger. Regular exercise helps in the regulation, lowering of blood pressure and relieve stress that improves the mood. Exercise also helps an individual to shift their mind from their anger or frustrating situations to focusing on their moves. Much attention is given to the hitting of ground with the feet, rhythms of breathing and the sensation of the wind on the skin. Therefore, the shift of focus helps an individual to stabilize their moods effectively, especially, among the adults (Faupel, Herrick & Sharp, 2010).
Adults are also prone to job arguments that may trigger their anger if their point of view is not considered. During such instances, the adult should use their senses that are a smell, sight, touch, taste, hearing to help them relax. Additionally, they can engage in imagery, meditation, take deep breaths that contribute to counteracting the rising tension and massaging the areas where the pressure is concentrated. For the children and adolescents, anger management program may include the use of creative leisure or exercise to reduce violence. Such activities include writing articles, journal, and creative writing, art by painting and drawing and listening to music from time to time. It helps in relaxing the mind thereby stabilizing the mood and reducing the chances of engaging in physical conflicts (Amen, 2015).
The next program is to ensure that an individual can lead a healthy lifestyle to allow them to control their anger. A healthy lifestyle is characterized by eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, good grooming, reducing sugar, caffeine, nicotine and alcohol intake. It may also involve engaging in fun activities during leisure that makes it possible to manage anger effectively. The last program is to engage into talks with close friends and relatives and counseling sessions with a qualified counselor. Such face-to-face communication with the trusted parties helps to calm the nervous system down ensuring that anger is controlled efficiently (Amen, 2015).
Conclusion
Anger is a common emotional response that can be caused by social situations, mental disability, trauma, drug addiction, poverty among others. Anger can lead to severe mental and physical problem if not controlled properly. However, various anger management programs have been established to help individuals to deal with their anger. Such programs include identification of triggers, engaging in counseling activities, physical exercise, practicing good lifestyle and engaging in creative leisure. The programs are designed to ensure that the connection between the mind-spirit-body is maintained adequately.
