Mission Statement
The mission statement of the City of Pompano Beach in Florida states that its basic purpose is to respond to emergency requests on a timely manner and ensure the cost effective delivery of highest quality of care for the visitors and residents of the city (Pompano Beach Florida Fire and Rescue, n.d.). Basically, PBFRs mission encompasses the need to address the social need for immediate relief during critical situations. The existing problem in communities includes untoward incidents involving fire and other circumstances that cause devastation. However, the need for immediate assistance to prevent further damage caused by an incident in the community should be addressed by an agency such as the PBFR. Realizing the role of the agency in securing the community’s safety from property damages and loss of life should reflect on the mission statement in which the embedded responsibilities are expected to respond to the key stakeholders.
PBFRs mission statement is broad in terms of conveying the core responsibilities of the organization. In relation to the information learned from the lesson, the agency’s mission statement has attributed that comply with the lesson about the context of stakeholder identification. It was mentioned in the PBFRs mission statement that the agency is working to fulfill its function in delivering care to the residents and visitors of Pompano Beach. In this regard, the stakeholders identified by the mission statement refer to the residents and visitors of the city. This means that the agency’s responsibilities go beyond the limitations demographical limitations where the request for assistance during emergencies can be fulfilled even for the non-residents of the city. More importantly, PBFRs mission statement conveys a very specific expression of the agency’s goal and objectives towards its stakeholders, which accords with the discussion about the importance of mission statement in defining the organization’s purpose.
