Islam and Politics
According to Maududi in terms of Islam and politics, Islam is a belief that is arranged well in Islamic community which contained an explanation on regulations of behavior. Maududi is doing its best to clarify how and why Islam was granted the opportunity to establish by God. To him Islam had set some kind of policies which guided them in conducting their religion. Islam to him involves worshipping the one and single maker of every living and non-living things on earth.
Maududi described the way privileged people were doing in order to interfere with Prophets from passing their communication to other people. They did so because they desired to be called God by man. These privileged people or leaders are portraying themselves as God because no man has seen God and they are trying to deceive them that they are God and want to be worshipped. For instance, “the author argues that this idea of posing themselves as God started way back in Egypt where they use their corporal authority to force mankind to worship them”. God is the only person to be worship by mankind as he is the creator of everything and not man. The leaders who were in authority in Egypt at that time misused the power they were given. They used it to suppress humans by forcing them to do whatever they want them to do. Besides, the author argued that the main cause for all these wickedness and naughtiness globally was the scheme of commanding man by a man. This was because a man in power wanted to control another man just because of him being in power and his riches that he had. According to him, the only way to get out of this wickedness is for a man to deny what his leader tells him to do.
In addition, all prophets had one thing in common. Their main goal was to destroy man from dominating his fellow man and bring fairness to people who have been deceived to worship fake gods. Maududi believed that for a man to be independent and make his own choice, he has to be free from authority that is based on wealth and man’s rational judges.
But according to Shariati, the need for sameness and liberty by the people of Islam has resulted in socialism. Moreover, he argues that Islam through his humanism has discovered the formation of open, free and good spirit but it is the one that is wholly in tune to worldly authenticity as it is godly. Shariati would like to make a new world and life for people in relation to Islamic law and he can only do so by rejecting the segregation which was the origin of the western life.
Islam and the West
According to the Wajdi, science and the modern life have obtained their unconditional choice and as a result there is no panic about the Islamic belief. The western life has overruled the Islamic principles therefore allowing the west to dominate the Islamic people. The Islamic leaders are trouncing their lack of accord just because of the infidelity of science. For the Islamic community to attain its freedom and to follow their principles, they need to be provided with good management from their leaders. Wajdi continued to explain that several Middle Eastern Countries are governed by the basics of the Islamic faith and these will oppose the science about Islamic religion.
Conventionally, mankind should perform his duties and live in positive directions in order to have a blissful life. But according to Wadji, mankind should only do the essential duties that are assigned to them by heavenly influences. Science has move to an extent where essential human needs such as food and water are determined by scientific results. This means that all the basic needs that are required by man are not provided by nature but are manufactured or processed. Furthermore, Islam is a belief that needs to be accomplished and it requires a man’s intelligence and understanding in order to be achieved.
But according Shariati, the modern west is a scheme that is organized by a community that is mainly based on capitalism and socialism. For one to cope with life in the west, he requires a lot of basic needs which are of high standards in terms of value and capacity. For example, “he is arguing that there are more needs in the west which require a high quantity and quality of life standards”. In the west, trend and lavishness lifestyles has led to transformation of human communal and manners which is as a result of self- interest amongst the people of that country. Shariati believes that the whole thing in the west is based significantly on science not according to socialist. The way in which the west thinks about freedom is not the precise manner because they are trying to westernize the Islamic religion. In addition, Shariati stated that there is no difference between Christianity and Islam because both are not spotless although they are considered to bring peace in the society.
