The German’s Holocaust Memorial is a sculpture erected in Berlin at a space equal to a soccer-field that has 2711 concrete stele. These steles are of varying heights and they keep swinging from left to right like wheat on a windy day. To access the field, one has to walk through narrow walkways that can only fit a single person. The monument is five and a half acres in size with four sides of entrance. The site is exclusive for the memorial of those Jews murdered in Europe and was initiated by concerned Germans led by Lea Rosh in the year 1988. It was meant to uncover the dark episode of the German’s past.
ORT is a non-governmental organization aimed at enhancing the advancement of Jewish people in terms of training and education. One advantage of including ORT in Holocaust memorial is that it has facilitated the creation of awareness by educating Jews on their past history. This has worked hand in hand with the memorial. Another advantage is that ORT engaged itself in projects aimed at enhancing unity and connection amongst Jews. This would work closely with the memorial by bringing the Jews together to experience their past. The disadvantage of ORT inclusion is that it introduces other projects that are not related with the intended purpose of the memorial. This makes the memorial to lose meaning thereby keeping some Jews away.
The Washington’s Memorial museum was established to reserve memorials of those who died in time of Nazi regime that were experienced in Germany in World War II. However, there is no established national memorial for the Indians who died as a result of genocide and slavery. The attempt to create one has fueled mixed reactions from the American citizens where most of them oppose the move strongly.
