The competence level of the employees based on an organization is one of the big issues, human resource management tackles in current times. Competence at work is the ability to handle the tasks that are set forth by the organization and to have a result that meets the manager’s expectations. In the video clip, we see the young Dr. Frankenstein rejoicing over the fact that his creation has come to life. The celebration is, however, cut short when the monster does not behave as the doctor would have expected it to. He asks Igor, who was assigned the task of putting the brain in the creation, whether he put Hans Delbruck’s brain. His response to which was no as he had rather put an abnormal brain, which resulted in the creation being demented ().
This issue can be reflected in today’s organizations. The staff that is employed might not be well trained to meet the tasks presented to them by their managers. This can also occur due to negligence on the side of the employee or even due to mis-communication in the line authority. This means that a line manager might also be responsible for the incompetency. This in today’s organizations can lead to various effects that can deal damage to an organization as a whole. The results of incompetency can range from just a minor and correctable mishap to a disastrous blow. For example, if there is incompetency when creating a product that is consumed by customers, it can lead to health issues or even death. Which then leads to an organization being faced by law suits.
As the human resource director at the castle, one of the first policies I would put in place is to ensure that the staff is first and foremost literate and is able to read well. With this policy in place it would be hard for the mishap to happen as Igor would have probably been able to distinguish the brains. I would also put procedures to ensure that the staff manager is keen and inspects the various phases of the procedures. This would have helped in recognizing Igor’s error before it was too late
