Music has a way of soothing emotions when people need to unwind. Starbucks is coffee shop who also has been playing music since the stores have been expanding for years. The atmosphere the store displays is a great place to hang out and enjoy the brands they offer. The store not only sells coffee but entices consumers to keep coming back because of the atmosphere that incorporates the music environment.
People can come in and unwind after a long day at work with their favorite brand of coffee, or take lunch and relax before finishing out their stressful day. “The music that is played in Starbucks has changed around the early 1990’s” . A man who had owned a record store across the street from one of the Starbuck Shops had went out of business and began working at his favorite coffee shop. He then took over the music being played with his own music and tastes which resulted in sales of the stores music later on.
Many consumers who spend time in the coffee shop enjoy the tunes and are more apt to spend money. Customers can control how loud the volume is and if it is needed to be turned down they can accommodate as well. Starbucks wanted to change the way marketing and advertising effects their wonderful beverages. The employees will make consumers feel right at home with the music they play, the first name basis, and remembering your favorite drink when they see you come in. The music is a signature that fits right in with the coffee they serve. Starbucks without music would be like Starbucks without coffee. They both go hand in hand and would not be the same if you eliminated one or the other. Music is known to sooth the soul, and what better way to have the best of both worlds.
