Music on the Beach
Entertainment forms part and parcel of life as it has a great impact on health. Everyone should have a specific place where he or she can visit so as to move away from some of the worries and pressures included in our day to day lives. When you are at the place you are able to feel that you are relieved from all your troubles thus have peace in your mind and heart. For me, I call this place my epiphany place. And it happens to be the beach.
That particular day, I was strolling along the beach feeling the clean fresh sand caressing my toes. My eyes continuously savored the infinite coverage of the sea water against the outline of the sea shore. Glancing back, I noticed Tommy sitting lazily on a washed out piece of wood tenderly pulling the cords of his cherry wood acoustic guitar to thrash out a soulful and enchanting tune. His eyes were distant as if he was trying to gaze at something embedded deep in his brain. His booted foot gingerly tapped the ground as he churned out his music (Knight, 2006).
Watching the orange sunrise at the sea shore during fall season was our hobby before heading to the studio. For me, it was a retreat where I could sit back and think of anything about anything without really hinging on the same thoughts. With the wind coolly brushing my face and the water slapping shyly at the sand dunes seemed to create their own musical partnership and in the process calming my nerves immensely. Add Tommy’s lazy background song, it was the perfect recipe to unlock all dimensions of my imaginative mind. It’s at this time that I catch myself subconsciously singing along to the tunes (Knight, 2006). Tommy’s rich and cultured baritone joins in. “Cause I can’t seem to catch my breath around you, I’m reaching closer to my death…so put your lips to mine. You can be my medic for tonight.”
On and on we sang, as if we did not have a care in the world. Finally the pieces were coming together in our song. Everything was clicking; we were enwrapped in our own musical cloud oblivious of the world before and around us. Tommy stretched his hand and I pulled him up. Still singing, we started walking away from the sunrise, a sharp bite creeping into the sun’s bright morning rays. We were ready. Our song was finally finished. Everyone at the studio would be literally blown away by the fine finish we had just established. Now it was just us against the world.
