There are several Muslims that are found in America. These Muslim in America share more intimately and also resemble other Muslims across the world in a number of ways. In America, some Muslims have adopted and embraced modern issues that affect the society. This is in regard to Islamic law, acceptance of other faiths, and religion. American Muslims hold various differences in their religious views and freedom. They do routinely exchange ideas with other faiths in the United States. In America, Muslims have more freedom compared to other Muslims that are found in other nations in the globe. The Muslims in America feel more relaxed and secure compared to when they are in other places of the earth (Boorstein and Mohamed 6). The comfort makes Muslims in America accept other faiths and be comfortable to their own religion. American Muslims are free to conduct their business and practice their faith with freedom and democracy.
Most American Muslims came to the United States as immigrants from Africa. They came to America as slaves and maintaining their faith was tricky, and several were compulsorily transformed to Christianity. This evolved and other Muslims came to America form locations like Egypt, Iraq, and Palestine. In addition, other Muslims came from Latin America, Asia, and Africa. Jackson says there are about six million American Muslims plus about 3,000 formal Muslim congregations in the United States. The Muslims in America practice sharia. These Muslims include entrepreneurs, cab drivers, professors, doctors, and technicians, among others. They wash their hands and take short breaks five times daily, to pray. In addition, there is an inclusive list of pure drinks and foods that is lawful to take, although about ten or twelve things are prohibited. They eat kosher food or vegetarian if Muslims they do not find Halal food. Moreover, Muslim women put on loose dress and headscarf and Muslim man wearing a head covering. These are some of the sharia practices that Muslim Americans follow.
However, American Muslims do not practice some sharia in their daily lives. Civilization has made Muslims develop some laws to govern their faith. The laws deal various issues like fighting environs crime and worldwide laws of conflict and peace. Muslims in Americans do not apply these laws as they deal with the territory of state and government. Boorstein and Mohamed say the laws, prohibits Muslims from being involved on some parts on an individual basis. In addition, some American States have enacted anti-sharia laws. Islam is projected to be the second prevalent religion in America soon. Prejudice against American Muslims has risen since the f 9/11 attacks (Jackson 4). Muslims have responded to the threat by becoming more energetic in the American political process. They have strived to educate their peers on their history and religion.
Majority of U.S Muslims and U.S Christians do not have a conflict in their modern life and religion (Mujahid 2). This is different when compared to Muslims in Asia, Africa, and Europe where there are some elements of discomfort between the faiths. Moreover, Muslims in America reject violence against civilians and bombings. This is according to a research which indicated that about 81 percent of American Muslims reject the vices compared to about 72 percent of Muslims in Asia, Africa, and Europe (Husain). In other areas, in the world, majority of Muslims consider Islam as the only true faith that leads to heaven. Additionally, these Muslims in other continents have a belief that through God is possible for a person to be moral. The situation is in contrast to American Muslims. About 56 percent, of U.S Muslims believe that varied religions can make one go to heaven (Mujahid 8). The belief is shared by around two-thirds of American Christians and other Americans citizens who share the same view. However, about 18 percent of Muslims in Europe, Asia, and Africa suppose that religions apart from Islam can offer a course to eternal life.
Muslims in America share many things with other American citizens. The Muslims are treated as part of Americans with freedom and democracy. This makes the American Muslims feel different from other Muslims in other sections of the globe. A survey indicates that that48 percent, which is less than half of American Muslims, have most of their intimate friends as Islam followers. This is different to Asia, America, and Africa, where a median of 95 percent of Muslims have their close friends as Muslims (Boorstein and Mohamed 6). In America, most of times, communities constantly meld with other religious communities.
All persons of different faiths, Christians, the Jewish faith, or the Muslims, are treated as one people in America. All citizens live together, work together, and respect each other. The people visit each other, and frequent house of worship of each other. This just indicates how wonderful the American society is, and how Muslims are regarded in America. The Americans that work with Muslim community witness customary exchange of culture compared to what takes place in their continents. The Muslims in America have been influenced by the culture that is in America (Jackson 5). Husain notes this has been made possible as culture plays a significant role in individuals, and this is impacted by the culture and society that surrounds them. Persons that do not have knowledge of interacting with people that are dissimilar from them, normally have a good deal of narrower perspective.
Nonetheless, there are American Muslims that do not share the values and opinions of other Americans. Some Muslims feel they are not treated equal as other people of varied faiths (Mujahid 4). This is despite the freedom that exists in America compared to other parts of the globe. They claim they are separated and do not know other persons. Muslims say that most people are off on Sunday, which is the Christian day of worship. However, Muslims need to have special arrangements in their jobs so as to worship on Fridays. The society is a secular society; however, non-Christians feel it is not all that secular.
In conclusion, Muslims in America have comparable viewpoints to other citizens because they knowingly left other continents where the established views were diverse. In America, Muslims like any other faith and religion have the freedom and democracy to practice their faith and business without any prohibitions. Most of the Muslims are immigrants who are most probable to be secular just like the Jewish community who came to America in the 19th century (Husain). Muslims that flee from Iraq, Iran, and Egypt, plus other nations coming to America flee from fundamentalism and migrate to the U.S where there is freedom. These Muslims enter the United States education system. They are educated on secular views, and civil rights. Moreover, they are taught on how to interact with people of other ethnicities and faiths. This makes the American Muslims feel part and parcel of America.
