Planning a career is not anywhere among the easiest f tasks. This is especially so because a career path is affected by the dynamic trends of the contemporary world. This means that the changes in such factors as the economy, the social settings and the cultural aspects of human life are bound to affect the career plan of any individual (Barrow 34). Even so planning is essential as it gives an individual a clear map of the future. It also enables one to set realistic goals and strategies necessary for the effective attainment of such goals. While this is the case, I realize that it is imperative for me to draw a clear plan for my career objective – that of becoming the owner of a theme hotel. The main reason why this is my goal, is because I realize its valueless importance in trying to eliminate poverty in the world because I believe the business will empower and enable me to help the poor out of their plight.
There is a lot that I have to do to achieve my goal of owning and running a theme hotel. First, I have to consult widely with people that have been in the field long enough to gather reliable experience on the trends and dynamics of the industry. Secondly, I will consult widely with my father with the aim of getting genuine advice about the way to initiate and make a business grow. Being a world of innovative technology and stiff competition, I will have to employ latest and groundbreaking technology where necessary (Morris 67). Additionally, I will resort to professional predictions and observations of the trend in the industry. All these efforts will support the pursuit of my goals be giving me a competitive advantage over all other potential competitors.
While I seek to achieve this goal, I will have to pursue studies in business and management, with special attention to management and marketing. Research indicates that marketing is the essence of business success in the world today (Morris 29). Additionally, proper management of talent and resources, including human resources, will introduce and aspect of efficiency to my theme hotel business. Studying trend analysis and time series will be inevitably important as it will help me predict the future of my business. In addition to coursework, I will need to work as an intern as this will expose me to various real world challenges that will strengthen my ability to deal with situations. Internship programs can be accessed through random applications to relevant companies in the industry. Alternatively, the school can organize for me an internship at request.
Among the primary challenges I expect is the difficulty of raising capital. This is the main challenge to all willing business entrepreneurs (Barrow 54). In an effort to overcome this obstacle, I will solicit support from family and friends, as well as other well wishers. With my father being at the forefront of promoting my growth, this obstacle will no doubt be overcome in a timely fashion. The second obstacle I expect will be the process of acquiring the necessary certification and licensing to commence the business. This will not be an absolute obstacle because with proper legal documents, I will effortlessly overcome it. This is only an obstacle to the timely commencement of the business. About the capital, I may consider taking a loan from a financial institution. The most important contacts I may need will be the authorization bodies and the financial sponsors.
