My Educational Philosophy: Exemplar Essay To Follow

Research has been able to show that the environment that an individual is in when during his or her school years plays a very important role in how he or she ends up. By environment I do not mean the buildings and the comfortable seats, but I mean the individuals who are around the student. As an educator, I will try everything in my power to be able to be that teacher they are free and feel safe around. This does not mean that I will allow them to behave recklessly and unethically, but rather be the one to guide them. I believe that the students should not be shepherded around like sheep but rather to mold them in a manner that they will be able to make these desired and right decisions personally. This is mainly due to the fact that I am a person who is easily approachable and hence they can confide in me.
All this will only be possible when my students will have various virtues and morals within them. These include various issues such as respect, cooperation and time-keeping. I believe that the best way of making one have this is not through punishment or coercion but rather through personal drive. In addition, to this, I am of the opinion that the student involvement in the school needs to be an action that each and every teacher should adopt. As an educator I am of the opinion that although the school has rules and stipulations that each and every individual within the institution should conform to, I am of the opinion that during my classes, the rules that are to be followed will be one which is arrived at after a meeting with the students. The students and I will clearly lay down whatever we intend to govern both them and I as an educator and the punishment that comes with one contravening these set stipulations. This is since, research has shown that individuals tend to always follow and adhere to stipulations they were involved in its making but will in most instances tend to break the rules that they have been coerced to follow.
Lastly, I am of the belief that school need not be just an institution where individuals just go and come out with book knowledge. One should come out of school and have skills that will help him or her to be able to survive well in school. This knowledge in my view will be mostly impacted in them through me giving them my experiences, the issues that will enable them know what is best for them and the direction that they believe will be advantageous to them. This will include various factors such as telling them how to pass their exams, encouraging them about the advantages of group work and cooperation and encouraging them to develop their talents in any way possible but mainly through practice.
In conclusion, with this personal educational philosophy, I believe that my students will learn better and once they leave the school, they will be able to adapt well in the society.
