Six years ago, when I was freshman out of high school, joining college was as important to me as anybody else. But I was disappointed, because I didn’t find any interesting major as there weren’t many options in Riyadh Universities. Thus, I decided to be a dentist and spent two and a half years in Riyadh College of Dentistry.
I took various science courses at Riyadh College. So, I became more interested in science than dental courses, even though I was an “A” student in both. Therefore, I decided to study abroad in Washington DC at the college of science at George Washington University.
Nevertheless, during my first year in DC, I came to know that Prince Sultan University would open a Female section in Fall 2011. So, I sent the required documents and got accepted as a transfer student to the college of Science and General Studies at Prince Sultan University.
Here, My experience at Prince Sultan University began -
In the first week, I was somehow disappointed as I was the only fourth year transfer student among freshmen students, but soon I realized that my frustration was just amongst the many personal issues that an individual has to face throughout their lifetime. Realizing this, for the first time of my life I looked upon my future with a serious and subjective point of view and Prince Sultan University proved a choice that was worth the effort and waiting for.
For the last two years, I have worked hard trying to reach a high goal and my efforts received positive feedback from my professors Dr. Alazzam and Dr. AlTurki. Their endless support, encouragement, patience understanding really helped me out a lot to learn and study hard.
Finally, with mixed feelings, I entered my third and final year at Prince Sultan University. In last summer, June 2013 I began working on my graduate research project at Human Cancer Genomic Research Centre at Al-Habeb Hospital. I am involved in a research project that deals with The Role of mTOR signaling pathway in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer. It is a hot topic and an interesting project. In brief, we target cancer cells without harming the normal ones. Hopefully, I will finish with the project by the end of March 2014. It is a great experience working at the lab as I gain a lot from doing numerous interesting experiments. I had experienced several Chemistry and Biology labs during my academic years at PSU, which contributed a lot to my self-confidence in working and dealing with the lab equipments and instruments at The Research Center. In this way, I have learned many skills, but the most important skill I learned is how to link between scientific and practical life.
I have enjoyed studying at Prince Sultan University and I am so proud of being part of this college. Studying under my professors’ supervision has been an enlightening and enjoyable experience and I hope I will be a good representative of the college. After all the experiences I gained studying here at Prince Sultan University and the transition I went through I believe that
