Dear Sir or Madam;
Several years ago, at age ten, my family and I were privileged to enter this great nation of the United States of America. When we got to this country, we were hoping to escape our life of poverty; unfortunately, we soon realize that a better life in America is not magical. We recognized that America only provides the opportunity to a better life, like everything else, one needs to work hard to attain the American Dream.
My family and I struggled for a while, and one of the things we were not able to achieve immediately, was health care. As a result, I learned firsthand what it is like to be ill and not able to get proper health care; I also know about going hungry, it was during this time that I develop the desire to help others. As the years pass and I become older my wish to serve others become stronger. In high school I excelled in the sciences and it was then that I knew that I would like to enter the medical field
I researched different aspects of the medical field and nursing practitioner is the path that I chose to follow. I familiarized myself with the duties of a nurse’s practitioner and as I discover this fascinating field know that there was nothing else I want to do. I have also ascertained the fact that nursing partitioning is gaining stride and is becoming a very demanding facet in the medical community.
A nurse practitioners perform in a capacity less than doctors and more than a nurses; they cannot execute the work of a specialist, however they can perform most of the work that is done by a regular family doctor. Soon nurse’s practitioners will replace doctors in health clinics and family practices. Like doctors, nurse’s practitioners can also specialize. The nurse’s practitioner salary is less than a doctor’s, therefore using nurse’s practitioners instead of doctors will cut down the cost of health care and the quality of care will not be compromised.
Despite my aspiration to become a nurse practitioner, I enrolled in Smith’s College in pursuit of a math degree. I had not deterred my dream, I only deferred it. Consequently, I embarked on a hunt to find the nursing school that would suit me best, and in my third year at Smith College I ended my quest and transfer to Northeastern University. The reason I have chosen Northeastern University, is the fact that I like the program, it takes eighteen months to become a registered and six more months of advanced study to attain a Master of Science degree and a graduate nurse practitioner. Transferring to Northeastern University has given me to chance to observe life here and have convinced me that I made the right decision to enter the nurse’s practitioner program at this university.
I have not regretted transferring here, I am learning about the community and its staff. So far I can say that the facility has lived up to its name, it is a caring one and the staff is helpful and generous. More importantly; it excellently prepares its students for patient, care giver relationship. I am on the verge of fulfilling my goal and I am sure the rest of my tenure will continue be gratifying.
