Personal Assessment of Strengths
Personal Assessment of Strengths
I was astonished to find out my top five strengths namely significance, achiever, discipline, focus and analytical. Although I was surprised, it was not so much since these are the top strengths that I feel I possess.
How My Top Five Strengths Relate to My Leadership Style and How they Relate to the Key Functions of Management
My top five strengths are significance, achiever, discipline, focus and analytical. I believe these strengths relate well with my transformational leadership style. According to Robbins and Coulter (2005), transformational leaders possess a vision of where they want to go. This implies that transformational leaders are focused, analytical, disciplined and achievers; traits that form my top strengths. Additionally, these strengths relate well with the key functions that I would need to perform as a manager. The key functions of a manager include planning, organizing, leading and controlling. For one to perform all these key managerial functions effectively, he or she has to be a great achiever, focused, analytical and disciplined.
The Traits I Need to Become a Good Leader or a Good Manager
A good leader usually possesses positive traits. I believe I have most of these traits as evidenced with my top five strengths. However, I need to work on other important traits such as empathy, confidence and calmness. Even though I possess these traits, I need to work more on them so that they also become among my top traits. Also, a good manager possesses positive traits. Although some of these positive traits differ when comparing a good leader and a good manager, some are common. For instance, for me to be a good leader or a good manager, I need to work more on my level of confidence, empathy and calmness.
The Strengths I will Use the Most in College or a Future Career
Among my top strengths, the ones that I will use most in college or a future career include discipline, focus, analytical and achiever. This is because I believe for me to be successful in the college or a future career; I have to be disciplined, focused, analytical and achiever.
