Dear Sir or Madam:
About myself:

Sports:
As an outdoors person, sports is an endeavor that comes naturally to me. My height and conditioning has helped me become a skilled soccer forward. As a quick runner, my sense of the gate is accurate.
Last year, my team won a championship in the soccer league. In addition, I was honored with the golden boot. Fortunately, I played well -- running, shooting, and defending. Unfortunately, however, my leg cramped 20 minutes before the end of the match. As a result, I watched the end of the match from the sidelines. However, we won the match! Winning the award looked like this:

Actually, standing by myself was impossible. My leg ached so much that I had to lean on my teammate.
Everybody congratulated us for winning, but only we knew the tears of joy that we cried. My mom always enjoyed dusting my medals and the golden boot.
We practiced day and night for the Championship, but still could not help worry about failure, since we wanted to live up to everyone’s expectations. As a key player, the pressure on myself, my teammates and my audience was so burdensome that I used to awaken from a nightmare about being penalized. Finally, I learned the way to conquer worry: first, I prepared to accept the worst, and secondly, I tried my best to improve my confidence. As a result, I became calmer, and focused on the match itself. My stress lessened, and I enjoyed the feeling of taking part in the Championship. At last, we won the Championship because of our good teamwork.. I won the golden boot, and became the forward who made the most goals. Stress has never bothered me since then, as I learned how to stop worrying, help my friends, and enjoy life.
I hope to become the captain of Hong Kong University’s football team, as I have enough confidence to lead the team to the Championship.
Traveling:
I love traveling. My family organizes a trip abroad every year. I have been to HK, and was surprised about the high level of their civility. Here are some photos.

Traveling is a precious experience. From the industry of Japan, to the leisure offered by northern Europe, from the dignity of Dubai, to the courage of Russia, I experienced cultural diversity and it has broadened my horizons. I am not as ignorant and biased, and I try to accept those who hold different opinions. Furthermore, I have new beliefs about discrimination: one must be polite and well-behaved in order to be respected.
Family
Although my studies consume a lot of my time, I still enjoy family life. Also, my grandparents offer me a lot of wisdom. They taught me how to be modest and stable, so that my mood will not be affected by my environment. Their wisdom has taught me that life is short, and that I must use my time wisely in order to accomplish my goals. Thus, my time and punctuality have become top priorities.
I have a cousin who is 12 years younger than myself. He is so innocent and child-like, a person whom I truly love. I taught him to how to play Weiqi, and was very surprised how quickly he learned the game.
I have explained the world to him as well as possible. I advised him to be patient, and wait until he grew up to discover the answers to his questions. I was happy to learn that he understood most of my explanation, and his curiosity about the world was piqued. To me, this is the essence of education.
Future
I want to study economics because the field is a combination of arts and science. Both of these aspects fascinate me. I want to become a virtual encyclopedia, and pursue an objective application of my knowledge. Becoming the best economist in the world is a lofty goal, but improving global society with my intelligence and morals is a worthwhile goal.
Something more
HKU has a beautiful football field by the sea, and I cannot wait to breathe its fresh air. I am looking forward to becoming a student at HKU. Although my high school did not recommended me, I will not give up. I am determined to study harder, and earn good grades. I sincerely hope that HKU chooses me.
Today, HKU is my goal. Tomorrow, HKU will be proud of me.
Finally, I would like to thank you for your time and for giving me the opportunity to relate my personal experiences. I still have a lot of ideas to share with you, I hope that we can further exchange our ideas during an interview.
Best Regards,
***
