Personal Mastery
Personal Mastery
Personal Mastery
Since the dawn of our civilization, people have been trying to study the world around them. Within the ages passing, human nature has proved to be inquisitive and curious. Therefore, eagerness to learn and find out something new is considered to be a mandatory feature of a successful person. In fact, this belief took the shape of the special managerial discipline, which is personal mastery.
Personal mastery is a name for the process of getting mature in the field of organizational behavior. Personal mastery identifies the possibility of person’s growth and evolution. Step by step, both employees and employers obtain new knowledge and experience which will make them develop as leaders and their subordinates. The complex of such steps, both accepted and expected, create one’s personal mastery (Senge 1990).
The concept of personal mastery is important in the terms of developing a leadership features, which are integral for those, who plan to be chiefs and directors. In fact, personal mastery identifies the person, who can improve as a leader and, therefore, encourage others to improve too. The leader, which can demonstrate the proper behavior himself, emboldens the development of his organization and the whole team (Senge 1994).
Values
My first considerable value is responsibility. In my opinion, not only in the business and management, it is important to be responsible. Responsibility means that the person can be relied on. This makes the teamwork establish strong convincing inner connections. Besides, responsibility has much to do with the concepts of punctuality and reliability (Heathfield 2015).
The responsible leader provides his subordinates with the confidence that their work and its results are stable. Additionally, responsibility offers the employees assurance that their work will be compensated properly. In turn, responsible employees make the system of the leader-employee relationships, which is the carrying structure of the whole organization and its operation. Responsible employees eradicate the possibility of shortcuts and stagnation within their company. The proper cooperation of leaders’ and employees’ responsibility builds the atmosphere of the workplace, as well as strengthens the organization.
The second integral value is competency. This feature ought to be present in the characters of every leader. The key aspect of the competency is directly connected to the concepts of knowledge and experience. Competency evaluates the level of organization’s aptitude in the fields of their operation. Therefore, competency shapes the organization’s image and authority.
The competent leader plays a vitally important role in directing the process of company’s operation. If the leader orients in the field of his company, he will definitely create the right vector for improving the organization. Competent employees, in turn, provide the process of the operation itself. Additionally, obtaining enough knowledge of the field helps the employees to do their work impeccably (Covey 1989).
The third key value, important for the organization, is teamwork and collaboration. The company itself is a number of people working together. To make their operation the most effective, these people have to cooperate regardless their position or job. However, collaboration still considers following the rules of the organizational ethics and hierarchy.
The leader, which is open to cooperation with his employees gains respect and appreciation. Moreover, his position is supported by the employees’ responsive openness to the collaboration. Except for the gaining status, the collaborative and free to communication leaders help their subordinates to improve their own values and develop the organizational behavior. In the atmosphere of cooperation and collaboration, the most interesting and successful ideas born and evolve. Collaborative employees, in turn, help their directors to find out whether the conditions of working or other aspects of the organizational action are right or wrong.
The fourth value is creativeness. This one is especially important for the organization, which can develop effectively only in the case of new and interesting ideas appearing. In the company, where both the leader and his subordinates can think in an unordinary way and look beyond the borders of the existing issue. A creative leader shows the example of not following the banal plans. Creative people are definitely the most direct source of the ideas and atypical points of view. This value is definitely important as nowadays the creativeness is the main thing which makes people stand out. Standing out, in turn, is an important condition of success.
Purpose
My purpose is to serve the interests of the world and its society in order to make it better. However, it is important to point out the context of this statement. Make the world better is quite an illegible sentence but it contains all of the things I want to achieve. Serving the people of the whole world is evaluating the needs of other people higher than my own. Helping people in need, in fact, is one of my prior goals.
Vision
I see my future as a life of a successful philanthropist. My plan is to found a charity fund, which will provide help for children with such diseases as polio. Additionally, this charity fund ought to obtain special knowledge about these diseases. Therefore, I also plan to organize a research center as a subdivision of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
A charity fund is the best way to serve the world in order to make it better. Helping people in need is my point of life and charity fund is one of the ways to achieve it. However, it is hard to finance such a fund myself. Therefore, I see a board of directors or successful businessmen, leading the operation of this organization in the atmosphere of cooperation and respect. However, I am hardly competent in the field of fighting disease but I understand how to encourage people to work for better. Therefore, my idea is to create a project for talented and diligent students, how can lately become the workers of my research center. This program will offer the scholarship for those students, who will show their best at a special intellectual contest and prove their abilities by providing a research on a relevant to the fund’s operation topic.
However, being one of the founders of the charity fund and choosing students for getting scholarship does not require a lot of activeness. In turn, I cannot imagine my future life without being active. In these terms, I also plan to have a permanent place of work and obtain some position in the international relationships department in the law company. This job, however, can be easily combined with my operation in the fund as I am only one of the board of directors and I do not need to spend all my time there.
These plans are exactly what I want to do in my future life in order to by useful to this world and at the same time stay satisfied with myself.
Practice
In order to get a good place in any company, I actually need to obtain considerable knowledge in the field of international relations. In these terms, I am a student of the university, which can provide me with the required knowledge. Besides, I pay additional attention to such subjects as history, political science, diplomacy and cultural studies. To be aware of the contemporary political situation and the current requirements of the world of international relations, I always monitor the news and try to analyze the key events of the international arena.
However, knowledge is not enough for being a good professional. In order to develop, I need to become more experienced. To improve such features as responsibility, punctuality, independence and creativeness I am involved in part-time jobs. I try myself as a freelance writer, as well as practice tutoring. These occupations are vitally important in improving my communication skills and makes me more aware of the world of human relations.
In fact, I need to become a part of the charity world in order to start and lead a charity fund. Therefore, I am involved in the voluntary work. Actually, I do not have enough time to spend it being a volunteer but I plan to take on more responsibilities in summer during my holidays. Being involved in charity makes me more oriented in the principles of the charity and, besides, improve my independence and awareness.
