Liberty University, arguably one of the most renowned Christian-based colleges in the world, has a mission to develop Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge, and skills essential to impact tomorrow’s world (Short 43). Having been brought up as an avid Christian and respectful student, I always had Liberty University in mind. In my early student years, I did not know much about the university. However, when it came a time for me to choose the university in which to further my studies, I found hope in Liberty University’s mission. The mission was perfectly in line with my personal perspectives of life and morality.
With regard to how my personal perspectives of life and morality will contribute to the university’s mission, there is a lot of discussion to be done. Foremost, I have always desired to become an important instrument of the almighty God. As a matter of fact, one can only do that if they uphold Christian centered values, knowledge and skills. Since I endeavor to achieve such, I am certain that I will contribute to the university’s mission. Secondly, I intend to live by the will of God, humbly and continuously seeking his wisdom so as to avoid meandering in the dark corridors of mediocrity.
As opposed to many college students, I plan integrate earthly skills and knowledge with the wisdom of the almighty God. I plan to avoid such evils as night parties in which students carelessly drink, smoke, abuse hard drugs and have lots of reckless sex. This way, I will keep my ways pure so that at the end of the day, I will gain favor in the eyes of humans and in the presence of God (Short 67). In furtherance of the university’s mission, I intend to forge a jig-saw fit between my personal goals and the vision of the founder – Jerry Falwell.
