Personal Problem
I am currently struggling with my studies due to financial constraints. As I am having to earn money to support myself and pay for my tuition fees, I am left feeling very tired and with little time to spend on my studies, meaning that my grades have suffered. If I could secure a scholarship I would be able to dedicate much more time to my education and achieve the grades of which I am capable.
I work a great deal, both night and day shifts, in order to pay for my studies and in order to live. I have no regular sleep pattern as I am constantly switching from day shifts to night shifts, and sometimes working both in one day. Consequently I often feel tired and unwell due to this absence of a healthy routine. Due to my busy working schedule, and the related lack of sleep, I find it difficult to have enough time to study.
As I am an international student I am required to pay full tuition fees in order to attend college. In addition to this, I need to pay to support myself with rent and food etc. All of this adds up to a large amount of money and it has forced me to take on paid employment for many hours each week. The reason I came into the country was to study for a better future but, because of my working hours, I am left with very little time to study and this has resulted in my decreased Grade Point Average.
I would like to continue my studies at college as I feel the institution will enable me to achieve to my highest potential. The college is a wonderful place to study; I find the staff to be friendly and approachable, and the campus provides a perfect setting in which to learn. Furthermore, during my time so far studying, I have found a real sense of stability. This has been my first experience of feeling this way since moving to the USA from my home country. Additionally, the cultural diversity at the college has made it easy for me to fit in with the community and to form lasting friendships.
The best solution to this problem would be if I could secure some financial assistance via an educational scholarship. A scholarship would enable me to work less hours in paid employment and, therefore, dedicate much more time to my studies. Furthermore, if I was working less hours in my job I would be able to sleep properly at night and feel refreshed for college every day. With more time to concentrate on my education and to regain a healthy sleeping pattern, I am confident that my grades at college would quickly improve.
I am one hundred per cent dedicated to my studies, but due to financial constraints I am struggling to achieve the grades I am capable of. Currently, I am both studying at college and working in paid employment, as I am unable to afford the costs associated with being a student. Therefore, if I were to secure some financial assistance, I feel I could spend more time on my studies and would be able to complete my education with a degree of a high class.
