The importance of Culture in Business
The cultural value of any organizations tend to shape the core structure of different business aspects like those of its leadership style, change management approach, workplace diversity, business management etc. In all of the above-stated business concepts, culture values play the crucial role of defining the exact nature of business acumen that needs to be put in and it also shapes the consequent form of workplace environment for the business. In the coming segments, I will be discussing how the culture drives my perception of these business concepts.
How culture fosters Leadership?
Most of the victorious tales of business leadership are often backed up via sound initiatives taken by the leaders in terms of defining, shaping and augmenting the organizational culture to have a persistent employee motivation and energy channelization. A leader has to drive the culture within the obvious parameters of discipline, employee empowerment, ownership and urgency development in roles, adequate customer advocacy, and apt product differentiation to gain a competitive edge in the market (Kuhlmann, 2010). Hence, the culture attenuates the true essence of a leader in ensuring that the employees of the organization feel morally bound to attain the strategic mission of the business goals.
How culture affects business management?
The business culture varies with respect to varying geographies, demographics, industries, and consumer preferences in a region. As the globalization progress to affect core business expansion prospects and evolving technologies lead to narrowing the choices for business, it is extremely critical for business to adapt with diverse cultural values (Gallant, 2013). The business culture in Japan is excessively driven by rising technology whereas same in African countries requires customer preferences regarding cost and product utility. Similarly, masculinity drives over feminism in workplace environment in developing countries like India and China, whereas it is reverse in European nations.
How organizational culture shapes the motivation in employees?
The organizational culture is the foremost enabler of the motivational factor for the employees. It also considers the selective nurturing of key expectation values from business prioritized by employees, like those of monetary incentives, occupational purpose, and emotional attachment to job profile, career growth aspirations, and social reputation (McGregor & Doshi, 2015). The ideal culture tends to develop each of the above-mentioned aspects for employees, as per their priorities and tries to boost the motivational cum satisfaction levels for its employees. Hence, a successful organizational culture shapes all these factors to create the perfect motivation in its employees.
How culture manages the diversity in business?
Owing to the inclusion of rapid globalization in business, modern business environment envisages extreme diversities in terms of ethnicity, gender, demographics, etc. Further, the recruitment of employees into a business is directly governed by the estimate of their potential to comply with the basic nuance of organizational culture. Most of the times academic achievements are sidelined by a better fit to the organizational culture. Most often, the culture which promotes diversity in business gets driven from the top management where leaders try to shape their organization in sync with growing business expansion across cultural diversities (Love, 2009).
What is importance of culture in Change?
As per rising competition and growing international business expansion pressures, the modern day business requires stringent adherence to cultural adaptations with the change. The ease of acceptance of any organizational change is altered by a consequent change in the organizational culture which can synchronize the various aspects of business to adapt with the change (McCalman & Potter, 2015). Hence, culture is a very crucial element that brings a receptive mindset among the employees to embrace, implement and excel on the strategic change in an organization.
