Having passion for any profession is always something that drives one through the challenges of school life as well as the challenges that one encounters late into their career. Thus, the institutions that one attends will have a profound impact on the career and ability to deliver. It also forms the platform where one can practically transform their dreams into reality and work towards those dreams. As I venture into the Nurse Practitioner role, my dream is to work for my home community top provide them with the much needed safe, quality and effective care for all without discrimination on gender, age or ability to pay. This is motivated by the challenges through which I have seen the people in my locality go through in accessing quality care.
Pertinently, the elderly and the poor have been sidelined in accessing quality and safe care due to their economic hardships and the fact that they are not well informed about the social benefits schemes that can facilitate their access to care. School of Nursing at Walden University has offered me that platform where I can meet my dreams through acquiring the relevant knowledge through which I can impact a positive social change to the community. One of the key aspects of the Nurse Practitioner according to the Walden’s mission is to identify the health needs of the community in relation to cultural and demographics changes and responds appropriately to enable the population acquire safe and quality care (Walden University, 2013).
