In the last 20 years, film and video have emerged to be predominant forms of current story telling. However, before the emergence of video, photography was still there. For the last 100 years, storytelling and photography went hand in hand. Telling a story using photos usually takes more than a skillful photographer. Therefore, only photographers who are skillful, and understand concepts and emotions behind ever-great story can develop a photo story that has more impact. In simple terms, a photo essay is a collection of pictures, which are placed in a particular order to narrate the progression of emotions, concepts, and events. Each human being is drawn to certain stories. Thus, photo essay is actually a brilliant way to bring images to life. Telling stories using pictures is essentially more moving and evocative than using essays.
My study trip to USA and England is a topic that I find very interesting. My experiences in these two countries were very motivating. The first trip to England was very enjoyable. I discovered that this country is very beautiful and have a very conducive environment for learning.
The trip was a geographical tour where I had an opportunity to visit the natural harbor of England. This harbor is at Poole and it is regarded as the second largest harbor in the entire universe. This country consists of lowland terrain, with mountains or uploads terrain that is only found in north-west of Tees-Exe line. British Isles are groups of Islands, which include the Ireland, Great Britain islands and over 6000 smaller isles. The sovereign states that are located on the mentioned islands are Ireland and the United Kingdom.
The next physical feature that I visited was the upland areas which included the Pennines, the Lake District, Dartmore, and Exmoor. The Lake District is actually a mountainous region in NW England. This is actually a famous holiday destination as it has mountains and forests. It is also associated to the early writings by William Wordsworth. Pennines are actually a mountain range that is low rising and separates NW of England from the Yorkshire and the NE. The third destination was Exmoor, which is an area of open Moorland that is hilly in nature. The fourth destination here was Dartmoor, which is a moorland area in south Devon. The three photographs are as shown below.
My trip in the United Kingdom ended in Scotland where I visited the Highland Boundary fault. This is actually major fault zone, which traverses this country from Hellensburg and Arran on the W.Coast to the Eastern Stone haven. The physical feature separates two different geological and physiographic terrains. According to the studies that I conducted, it is believed that this fault formed in conjunction with Strathmore syncline to the SE during Acadian Oregeny in transpressive regime, which caused the Grampian block uplift and a minimal Sinisterly movement on this fault. This is as shown in the image below. This is where I concluded my geographical trip.
USA was another country that I visited in my studies trip. The various physical features in this country were very beautiful in fact added my knowledge of Geography. Actually this country is located in W. Hampshire. The country has forty-eight states in Alaska, N.America, and Peninsula that forms the N.W most part of northern America. USA shares the land boundaries with Mexico and Canada and water or marine boarders with Cuba, Russia, and the Bahamas. This description is as shown in the following image that shows the forty- eight states.
USA is endowed with a lot of physical features. My first visit was River Mississippi-Missouri river system. I discovered that in the whole world, this is the fourth largest River System. My study of this river system informed me that it serves industry, transportation, and recreation. It is the most vital inland water way in N.America. The Drainage basin of this river system collects its water from forty-one percent of contiguous United States. I discovered that Missouri river is the longest river followed by Mississippi in the United States.
The other destination for my study trip in the United States of America was the various mountains in this country. I discovered that these mountains had high points and peaks that were very beautiful. I visited various states and studied a number of mountains. The first mountain to visit was Colvin Mountain that I discovered that it is a ridge in Etowah County. Keek Mountain was the other mountain that I toured. This mountain is a mesa in Jackson and Madison counties in Alabama. I found that this mountain is associated with Cumberland Plateau.
After visiting these mountains, Amak Volcano was the other feature that I toured. I discovered that it is basaltic andesite stratovolcano. This volcano is found in Aleutian Islands that are found in Alaska. This volcano is located on eponymous island. I found that blocky lava flows essentially stream from the summits of this volcano to its flanks. It was very interesting to discover the three historical eruptions that had taken place in this volcano. The image below elaborates how this volcano looks like.
