Personal Strategic Plan
Personal Strategic Plan
1. Vision, Mission and Values
My vision is to exceed my limits and aim beyond the stars. My purpose in life is to turn my ambitions and energy into a power that can help my society and women in particular, to lead by example, to shine and exceed in my line of work and to inspire other women. In my personal life, my purpose is to raise a stable family that is devoted to change the future of our country.
- I’m a firm believer in equality and fairness, because it is important to grant everyone the same opportunities to achieve their goals and dreams.
- I believe in compassion, because in order to become a great leader one must understand others and empathize.
- I believe in dedication, as without dedication no one can reach their goals, dedication makes you stronger.
- I believe in hope, hope makes the journey to your goal easier. Hope is reassuring.
- I believe in forgiveness and in having peace of mind. Forgiveness makes us happier and healthier.
2. Personal and Professional Goals
In order to realize my vision I have set the following goals.
Firstly, I am willing to obtain a bachelor degree in Business Administration. I am sure that this will give me a deep understanding of strategic theory and develop my professional skills such as managerial and communication skills. This can also be a great example for other women.
Secondly, my aim is to get the FRM (financial risk management) certificate. Getting such certificate is an important step forward in realizing my vision as far as completion of a certificate program will allow me to acquire knowledge on different social, cultural, political and economic influences in the international business arena as well as understand the basic concepts of multinational financial management.
Thirdly, I want to work in an elite multinational company. I believe that solving real-world situations and using the business skills and techniques I have learned at university is extremely challenging and I will get a unique experience which will further develop me as a professional. I can also prove that women can be good leaders.
What is more, my goal is to open my own company. This will help me find my own work/life balance as far as I will be able to make my own schedule and thus to spend more time with my family, which will be my inspiration behind my company. As an employer, I will be able to surround myself with positive people and give back to my community by creating jobs and giving other people opportunity to achieve their goals.
What about my personal goals, it is very important for me to get married and have a stable family. I want my children to be devoted to change the future of our community and it is important to raise children in intact families because, on average, they have higher academic achievements and better emotional health. I am sure that I will be a good example for my children.
3. Personal situational analysis (SWOT)
Strengths
I have relevant personal strengths that will help me achieve my goals. Firstly, I am very creative. Secondly, I am a risk taker and can easily change a good job with high salary and expected promotion to own business. Thirdly, I can work under pressure and respond effectively to pressure and stress. I never panic or become ineffective when the work is unexpectedly busy. Other people see me as hard-working and dedicated as I am highly organized and focused. I am also proud of being self-confident which helps me attract people and achieve high results. I have good communication skills; I can listen attentively and coherently express my ideas.
Weaknesses
My personal weaknesses that could interfere with my ability to achieve my goals are poor time management, lack of relevant work experience and sensitivity.
People around see my poor time management as my weakness. For instance, I usually avoid multiple tasks because I do not feel confident doing them. Too many tasks usually make me feel stressed. Now I am using a planner to deal with this weakness. I am also not very confident in my emotional stability. Sometimes I am very much disappointed when something goes wrong. Another weakness is that I have not enough work experience. And I don’t like being disturbed while working.
Opportunities
The industry is growing and many new workplaces are created. I believe that as a certified professional I will find a job that will be suitable for me.
I have no responsibility for others as far as I am not married and my parents live separately. I have loads of free time to study in the university and to get prepared for the financial risk management exams.
I have also developed a network of strategic contacts. They include instructors in financial risk management and managers in multinational corporations. Such people can help me and offer good advice when I am studying for my financial risk management certificate and when I am looking for job.
What is more, due to the opportunities technology gives us, I can watch online courses of the top universities and improve my chances to find a good job. The development of technology also provides more and more instruments for the financial risk management professionals.
Another opportunity is that I see the growing number of vacancies with the demand of the financial risk management certificate. This indicates that more and more companies believe that financial risk management is a very important issue.
Also, I know a second language, which could give me more advantages when applying to the multinational company.
Threats
I see the following threats to achieving my goals. First of all, I feel lack of financial education necessary to pass the financial risk management exam. I feel that my fellow students have better academic background and it will be easier for them to get certified.
What is more, I am afraid that studying at the university, working in a multinational company and getting prepared for the financial risk management exam will leave me no time for personal goals. It will be not so easy for me to find my work/life balance because of my poor time management skills.
4. Core Competences and Competitive Advantages
I believe that my special skills and knowledge will contribute to achieving my goals. Firstly, I have deep knowledge of management and international business acquired in the university. Secondly, I have abilities in interpersonal communication and problem solving. I am also highly adaptable and demonstrate flexibility in the face of change.
My competitive advantages include creativity and a very special attitude to risk. I am not afraid to risk and I do my best to manage it properly without losing confidence or getting stressed. Despite my sensitivity, my mind is clear when I analyze risks.
5. Specific strategies (that utilize strengths and capitalize on opportunities) to achieve my goals and measuring progress towards such goals
In order to achieve my goals I will work out a personal development plan and the action plan. I will monitor my activities on a weekly basis to see the points to be improved and introduce the necessary changes in order to succeed in realizing my vision.
My first goal is to obtain a bachelor degree in Business Administration. I can reach this goal by graduating from my university. In order to obtain such degree I will utilize my strengths such as diligence and ability to work under pressure. I will measure my progress towards this goal by the number of courses I will have passed. I will reach this goal when I get my diploma.
My second goal is to get the FRM (financial risk management) certificate. I can reach this goal by studying the official GARP resources, which help people prepare for the exam. My ability to work hard, my professional network and relevant online resources will help me and increase my chances to pass the FRM exam. I will measure my progress towards this goal by the part of the FRM Exam Preparation Handbook I will have studied. I will reach this goal when I pass the FRM exam and get a certificate.
My third goal is to work in an elite multinational company. I will get a job by writing a CV and sending it together with the cover letter to the most appropriate positions. I will study different online resources to understand what the good CV and cover letter should be. My strategic contacts will help me find a proper job and the financial risk management certificate will make my profile more attractive to the potential employers. Knowledge of a foreign language will also contribute to getting a job in the international company. I will measure my progress towards this goal by the stage of recruitment process I am on. I will reach this goal when I complete my probation period and sign a permanent contract with the company I wish to work at.
My fourth goal is to open my own company. I believe I can do this due to being creative and ready to take risk. My leadership skills will make it easier for me to organize people. Due to my professional skills and the opportunities, which the latest technologies give us, I can open my own company, register and promote it. I will measure my progress towards this goal by the number of money my company will have earned. I will reach this goal when I register my own company and make a profit of $5000.
My fifth goal is extremely important to me. It is to get married and have a stable family. I believe that I will be a good wife and mother due to my empathy and peace of mind. I will reach this goal when I have been married for 5 years and have a child.
