COLEEN COLOMBO AND COLLEAGUES RESIST MORTGAGE FRAUD
SYNOPSIS
The year 2004 had impacted the life of US citizens in various ways. It provided opportunities for the citizens to be the homeowners. The case study is based on that time period. Coleen Colombo was one of the employees of BNC in the California Branch. Coleen was a senior underwriter in the company since 2003. The branch performed several duties related to providing loans to the clients and as an employee of the company Coleen did an outstanding job in her position. However, the thing ended up with some unexpected outcome and provocation suit was recorded in the Superior Court of the California for her interests and it was also for five other representatives of the BNC.
The main theme of the suit describes that the workplace is being unfriendly for Coleen in 2005 as one of her kindred representatives who was a male wholesaler started to carry out all her credits dishonestly. As an example, the home estimation, base pay rates, etc. was managed inappropriately. The person who managed these things were dishonest at the work and he was offered her bribe for permit some of the advances that had data to be affirmed.
As described by one of the previous workers of BNC named Sylvia, the process of giving rewards was one of the basic things in the organization. She also described that, majority of the financiers working with the organization asked for reward in order to endorse the advances. She also explained that, the work life of her in the organization is being measurable once she declined to pay any rewards. She faced several problems in such event as like the advance records are disappeared, bonus record dropped etc. She reported the issues to supervisors and they guaranteed that they will recount the issues in respect to the scenario described.
In this case study, Coleen faced the same issue. She explained in the suit that she informed the VP of the BNC regarding the wholesale who offered reward deals. However, the actions taken by the VP was light regarding that issues as well as she has been undermined and suffered in the organization because of that event.
The suit submitted by Coleen also explained different types of harassment by the wholesaler. The wholesaler started to do sexual harassment and tried to create different pressures on her to make the workplace an uncomfortable place for her. Coleen left the organization in 2005 because of such activities. The sufferers of that event filed case and it was placed on hold once the proprietor of the BNC petitioned for the liquidation in 2008. The company declined all the charges of the suit and they decided to fight the case and challenge the charges.
The case study clearly indicates that, Coleen was a dedicated employee for the company who always liked to go beyond the expectations. The case study clearly indicates the organization performed fraud lending, fraudulent information, workplace harassment and sexual harassment at the workplace. It also shows that, the organization was concerned about all this issues and they took it lightly that made the company suffer in the long run.

Fact Finding I
The case study shows that, BNC had no appropriate decision making approach and work ethics. The case study clearly indicates that the employees are being forced or offered rewards to approve loans.
Recommendation I
Ethics is one of the important thing that a company needs to follow in order to perform the business with honesty and integrity. The company must follow some ethical rules in decision making and choosing the future approach (Joshua). The company need to stick on the activities that are ethically correct and it is essential to be strict against any kind of unethical activities to avoid problems.
Fact Finding II
The case study shows that Ms. Coleen was harassed sexually by the male wholesaler and the wholesaler created many other problems that made the workplace uncomfortable for her. The sexual harassment by a co-worker always creates stress and mental illness. It is one of the major thing that contribute to downgrade the workplace culture. The harassment in the workplace was one of the important fact that contributed in this case.
Recommendation II
The best way to avoid such scenario is building a workplace culture. The companies should have certain rules and regulation that will ensure that each of the employees are treating others with proper respect. The case study clearly suggested that, there had no actions or investigation from the upper level while the issue was reported. This type of event requires immediate attention from the employers and there should have reasonable actions taken in the quickest possible time to avoid the long term consequences. The company can also take help from relevant government departments in case the issues are beyond their control.

The case study indicates a dangerous working environment. It shows that the employees don’t have good relations among themselves and they wanted her to be resigned from her position.
Recommendation III
The workplace environment is one of the most valuable thing for a company to keep up the productivity. The case study clearly indicates that, the actions taken by the management was not appropriate in regard of the situations. It was always better for the employer to identify the root cause of such issues. It was better to find out who are in light of creating such events and who are going to be benefited. It can be helpful for the company to keep the dedicated employees and fire the dishonest employees to keep the workplace balance.
