The podcast on Patterson`s lecture “Grand Expectations: 1945-74” shows some high points that may be the driving force for what the current era of American is going through. Points of hope was so great for the past generations even when they did not have the luxuries present today because, though they only had a population that was only accounting for seventy percent of the world’s population they owned fifty percent of the world's manufacturing output, this meant that the country had more than they needed when it came to issues of finances, leaders at the time also seemed to have a firm grip on what was happening and ensured that the ordinary citizens understood the power of the nation and instilled the love of that land in their citizens. The Americans were at the helm of technology and became trendsetters in expeditions like the famous landing of man on the moon. The people that were living in America at that time had to have hope not only from what they were told but with the great things they had seen being done by their nation. The Americans had also seen civil rights groups coming into play to ensure that everyone is represented, and all activities were done in the best interest of the citizens. The podcast has accurately captured the fact that this enthusiasm of the citizens was put down by events like the assassination of Kennedy the loss of the Vietnam War and the media criticism of the government. Though all that seems to have demoralized the American people one thing remains. That is the pride of being the pioneers of the great innovations and achievements of not only the Americans but the world at large.
