“The weather isn’t right for flying a kite”
Before us is an image, done with a pen. Two colors were used: black and violet. If the whole picture were black, it would have been too heavy probably. Violet adds a moment of fun, thus making the overall impression less sad. I am mentioning sad, because the mood of the picture is not very uplift.
Now, we should probably start from the bottom left corner, where the movement of the image logically begins. Following the lines and curves of the image we will run through the story as the author probably intended it. There is a “blah” woman, who has something running out of her mouth. Then there is a man in a funny hat with a cigarette with an absent look. There is a protagonist woman in a swimming suit with a kite. Finally, there are some minor objects, like raining clouds, a tiny man in a violet hat at the bottom right corner of the image and the inscription that summarizes the mood of the image.
The whole picture is well balanced. All spaces are filled almost equally. It makes the drawing look whole, without a sense of emptiness or roughness. The lines in the picture are strong and they mostly outline the contours of objects. Softer lines fill in spaces inside the figures present in the image. The figures are curvy and flowing. They are partially filled in with various textures and in some parts of the pictures, for example in the hat of the man with a cigarette, or in a hand of the “blah” woman, it creates a 3dimentionsl vision. Otherwise, all figures lie flat on the surface of the paper. The image is not too crowded with textures. Separate more or less intensively placed strokes accentuate various parts of the objects, leaving, however, most of the image unsketched.
