Introduction
There are a number of influences that the Native Americans have contributed to the American society. The Native Americans have had a history that has shaped the lives of the American society to today. They used natural happenings and existent phenomena to define life and this was through animals, plants, the rain and even the sun. Therefore, the Native American society contributed to the current American society through the culture, through the political identifications and other economic activities.
Culture
The Native Americans were composed of the Indians. Their culture revolved around the daily lives and their beliefs in various happenings in life. They made symbols like the peace pipe, the totem pole, moccasins and the teepee to symbolize the various parts of the culture (Indians 2). The totem pole represented the spirit of an individual who had died in the society, this is because they believed that each individual represented the spirit of a particular animal. Therefore after death of a person, the totem pole was curved to represent the particular animal that the individual represented. Totem pole was made to physically appear large, and wooden crafted in the shape of a particular animal and to represent a fallen family member.
Economic Activity
The Native Americans invented and progressed the gaming and casino culture as an economic activity. The gaming regulatory act that took place in 1988 led to the legalization of gaming operations. This has instigated more than 310 gaming that are operated by a large number of tribes in the U.S. it means that employment is on the rise and that 26% is achieved number in employment. The more the Indian owned casinos in an area, the more the adult population employed and this is important to the economic prowess of the individuals as well as the country.
The Native Americans participated in mining, hunting and trade for their economic prowess. They established trade routes in which they travelled to buy and sell various commodities among themselves and other communities existent at the time. This has been evident in the current American society with the signing of trade treaties with different countries and the use of air, water and road transport to move goods and services into different regions of the world and with America.
Political Influence
There are political conflicts that occur due to the historic Indian identification culture and sites. There are a number of Native-American sacred sites that tend to bring conflicts. Different culture people currently live in America and therefore they tend to progress non-Indian practices on the lands. This prompts the Native Americans to take action in order to protect the sacred sites. This leads to conflicts and therefore political actions have to be involved.
There are transactions that were initiated through the Bureau of Indian Affairs. This was to represent the Native Americans interests in the mineral incomes from their lands. The energy sources still affect the community and hence a source of political upheaval (Schultz 1804). This represents the need to protect their own lands and therefore makes the activities political.
The Native Americans have shaped the way the traditions of the American society today. They have contributed to the culture of the American people, the economy and its activities as well as the need to protect their lands and hence political activities.
