The history of natural medicine goes years back to 2000 B.C. when it was first used in Egypt. In today’s society, natural medicine, also known as herbal medicine is marketed insistently throughout the world. It is estimated that about 80% of people in the world use the natural medicine. This indicates that the majority of people living on earth prefer the use of natural medicine to the conventional medicine. It is therefore worth finding out the reasons that are making the majority of people in the world to prefer the natural medicine to the conventional one. The aim of this paper is to point out some of those reasons (Herbal Medicine Para. 3).

The world health organization approximates that more than 80% of the world are actively using natural medicine as a supplement of their primary health care. About 70% of Germany physicians prescribe herbal medicine to their patients. There are also over 600 plant species in Germany that are medicinal in nature. According to research studies carried out in the United States for over 20 years, it has been found out that the majority of people are dissatisfied with the prescribed drugs due to side effects and high prices. As a result they prefer the use of herbal medicine (Herbal Medicine Para. 4).

In addition, there are times when doctors and health professionals are not sure of the ingredient or compound in a particular herb that is responsible to initiate or produce healing effect in a sick person. In such circumstances, it is recommended that the usage of natural medicine be encouraged. The herbal medicine is composed of a number of these ingredients and therefore they may work together to produce healing. Unlike the natural medicine, prescribed medicines have undesirable side effects. The usage of herbal medicine makes people to live longer lives than those who use conventional medicine as studies show (Herbal Medicine Para. 5).
Action Plan
Besides, most Americans prefer the use of herbal medicine to either relief pain or manage their diseases. They claim that the constant use of prescription drugs to manage chronic diseases such as diabetes or cancer increases chances of addiction accompanied with undesirable side effects. Consequently, the use of natural medicine and alternative therapies is desirable to many individuals. Additionally, the cost of some of the prescribed drugs is high to many patients (Firenzuoli and Gori Para. 6).

Conclusion
In summary, natural medicine is the foundation of the current conventional medicine. Its application is wide and has a long history. The majority of people in the world prefer this kind of medicine due to the fact that it its benefits outweigh those of the conventional medicine. They also prolong the lifespan.
