The career I wish to pursue is that of an entrepreneur and so I hope to interview the Managing Director (MD) of the firm, Mars Confectionaries Ltd. for getting more information on this career.
A. Telephone request for an informational interview
Me: “Hello, Good Morning, Are you Mr. Steve Allen, Managing Director of Mars Confectionaries”.
Reply: “Yes speaking”
Me: “Sir, I am (Candidate name) and I am studying in Name of college . I am doing some career research. Regarding that I have called you. I got your contact details from my uncle who told me about you when heard about my interests in becoming an entrepreneur. I need a small favour from you. I would like to know more from you about the field in which you work. I am sure that you would be able to give me some fresh insights on the matter. I would like to talk to you in person to get more information from your experiences. Will you be able to spare about 20 to 30 minutes next week, to talk to me about this career? I can assure you that I will not take more than 30 minutes of your precious time”.
Reply: “Sure, fix an appointment with my secretary”.
Me: “Thanks a lot, sir”.
