Personally, it helps me to look for new opportunities and persons that I want to interact with on professional grounds. For example, if I want to share with a person in a given organization, I find LinkedIn more efficient than other sites. However, LinkedIn is not sometimes the best social networking site because of its professional nature. It lacks the flexibility that one needs in engaging in an unofficial friendly interaction. In some cases, I go online to find fun and LinkedIn is not the best for such opportunities.

LinkedIn helped me to establish connections to people I studied with in high school, my past friends, and new people because of the commonality of the interest feature. Usually, I am eager to view other professional’s resumes to know the achievements they have made the titles they have gained, and this is only possible in LinkedIn. Connecting with past friends who are working is important to me because such people will inform me of the opportunities in their organization and increase my chances of landing a job. A good number of the new connections I met are CEOs of companies, and they possibly will need my skills and reach out to me.

The groups on LinkedIn bring together professional with common interests and career goals. It is interesting to interact with people who are familiar with my career and some of them possibly more experienced. During interactions with group members, I will be getting informed of open vacancies and other opportunities for personal growth and success. Naturally, people tend to share information more with the people they are connected with, and this way it is agreeable that the professionals looking for skills will consider the group’s members as a priority.

LinkedIn creates a forum for interaction of professional in matters relating to career development and conducting business. When searching for a job, it often becomes challenging to get real-time information on the open vacancies. LinkedIn helps to solve this dilemma because it allows for the establishment of connections with people of similar skills and enhances communication among them essential for understanding existing opportunities. Unlike the traditional way of job search where an individual searched for opportunities through individual efforts, LinkedIn makes the job search process communal. Essentially, this means that friends, co-workers and new connections can share opportunities that lead to landing a job by an individual.
