The National Fire Protection Association is a global organization, which is devoted to getting rid of incidences of dead, injuries as well as reducing the loss of property because of fire and related hazards (Klaus, 2013). It is responsible for setting fire prevention standards as well as other endeavors aimed at saving lives during emergencies. NFPA has more than 200 codes and standards with volunteer staff who are experts in their particular area of interests. NFPA 25 is the platform with which the water-based fire protection systems are inspected, tested, and maintained. NFPA25 is responsible for maximization of the system’s integrity in ensuring fast and effective response to the fire emergency. Effective use of NFPA 25 reduces death incidences by up to eighty percent as well as the average loss of property by up to seventy percent.
NFPA 25 has the minimum standards that ensure that the water based systems function properly. For the system to comply with requirements which provided for the system, they include fire pumps, sprinklers, fire services pipes, valves and, more importantly, system reporting as well as impairment. NFPA Standard 25 positively influences the fire protection and firefighter safety. When the NFPA Standard 25 is out in place, there is reduced the risk of fire accident incidences as well as minimizing the damages that are caused by the fire in case it occurs. NFPA Standard 25 also provides safety to the firefighters for instance. The recommended good design allows free movement of the firefighter, which is a very important aspect where lives are saved during emergency situations.
In conclusion, NFPA Standard 25 positively influences the safety of the firefighters since the ultimate goal of NFPA Standard 25 is to get rid of risk during emergencies.
