A child is a wealth of the world, not a particular family or country, but of the world, and a hope that all people on the planet will live in peace. So, adults have to understand that the way a child is treated and brought up, later all that is going to be mirrored. If you want a kid to have a better life in a future, you should try to show a better present, the better world first. But what kind of world could children see? The world of high technology where people can fly, drive cars, there are different gadgets that help to stay in contact everyday and everywhere, there is even a “space ” food, but there is still a huge problem that makes almost billion of people suffer. Millions of them are children. This problem is hunger. This is the 21st century people live in, where all the humankind possesses lots of resources and have so many opportunities, but this problem keeps exciting and sounds even crazy in the modern world.
How terrible the consequences of the hunger could be, especially for children! At an early age the child’s brain is in progress and it greatly influences an ability to study and to be successful in the future. The constant hunger and malnutrition steals that opportunity. That kind of situation takes place in the Third World countries. People of that country fell into the trap. And here is a catch: poverty leads to hunger, hunger leads to degradation that means people stop thinking about getting an education or making progress at work because the situation gives them a focus in life- “work to survive”. In some countries children start working at the age of 2 or 3. As soon as they are born, kids get to learn the only rule that sounds like if they don’t work, they don’t get a chance to get something for a meal! Children don’t go to school and it leads to” life without future” for kids, for family. And if to think about that globally, that means no future for country.
These are children, the most innocent creatures in the world! Every kid on this planet has to have a chance to make the life he/she is given the way he/she wants it to be. They should not start their lives with the aim like “how to get food and not to die from hunger”, but “what could I do and who I could become in this life”.
Is there anything in the world that tries to improve the situation? The government is supposed to take care of that, but all what people get is the reasons why nothing changes. One of the reasons is that there is not enough food being produced. Nonsense! There is enough food in the world. But people are too poor to buy it and feed their families, kids, but the amount of leftovers in USA would be enough to feed all the people in Africa. Some calculations has been done that showed that in order to feed most of the countries that suffer from hunger, all the governments need something like 13 billion dollars per year. And the governments of all the countries spend for the military needs spend approximately 900 billion dollars per year. It seems like weapons are more important because it helps to protect people. What really helps is to be kind, live in peace, don’t make harm and everything will be fine. But what will not be fine is our future where probably won’t be enough people left to protect, because war and hunger are the real “weapons” taking lives away. This is something to think about.
This problem of children’s hunger touches many hearts and now more often you can hear about different organizations and communities that are involves in the childhood hunger issue and help kids to survive. But it doesn’t improve the situation. It helps, but the situation stays the same. It is even getting worse. For example, how could USA with all the leftovers have so many hungry kids? The entire hunger problem comes from poverty and poverty comes from social and economical inequality. So the problem is laid in the government. This pattern could be used for every country. Everything is so simple. What is not simple is that kids have to face this problem. You can prepare them almost for everything, but you can’t prepare them for an experience of being hungry.
The world community has to pay great attention to this problem. As long as there are such problems like hunger and poverty, the world can’t be called modern, civilized one. People of all the nations have to keep their eyes open and come together in order to solve this problem for the kids, for the future and for the future of the planet.
