Extremely fascinating comedy-drama “The Intouchables” was turned out by two French directors Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano, who shot the film based on motives of the real history of an aristocrat chained to a wheelchair, who had employed an assistant, it would seem, absolutely improper for a role of the nurse ("The Intouchables (2011)", 2016). The film, starring François Cluzet and Omar Sy, was released in 2011 and is still very popular all over the world.
The protagonist, unemployed Driss, who has just left prison, is so extraordinary and self-assured, that with enviable ease gets a job of the assistant of very rich disabled Philippe. However, not on purpose. It is very quickly revealed, that the aspiration of the life and adventures of Driss are the things that Philippe practically needs. All other candidates have been presented by absolutely ordinary inhabitants with whom it would be even more boring. Driss gets used to a new unusual job because he needs the money. Philippe needs not only the executive worker but the person, which he can rely on and who can be trusted ("The Intouchables (2011)", 2016). However, this moment in the film is constantly hidden. Therefore, until the latest moment, it is not absolutely clearly if the main characters will become friends.
They are people from the different worlds - a huge handsome African from suburbs of Paris and the quadriplegic rich. They both are tired: Driss of poverty and dirt in which he grew up, and Philippe - of compassion. Others see in him, first of all, not a person, but a disabled. Only Driss treats him as an equal. Their friendship seems for surrounding people something abnormal, but they enjoy what they give each other. Philippe opens for Driss classical music, opera and the luxury of receptions. On the other hand, Driss gives him fast driving, incendiary rhythms and a spark of live. Cold good breeding and desire of living meet together, and they help each other to live.
Omar Sy embellishes "The Intouchables". His character Driss is the tireless optimist, the fan of life, receiving from it a maximum of emotions. He can light a spark in everyone, even in Philippe, who is frozen by illness and sensation of the feebleness. For simple and rude Driss he is an absolutely usual person, for Philippe - the assistant becomes the real festival.
In the beginning, Philippe causes compassion and sympathy. Nevertheless, during the film, feelings of the spectator change nearly to the opposite: this person causes, at least, admiration. After all, such power and spirit are extremely rare in our world, where even completely healthy people cannot keep self-control.
Contrasts attract each other, do not they? The main theme of the movie is what contrasts give each other. Two halves incorporate in one and become inseparable.
It is a true culinary masterpiece from the world of cinema, which has enough salt, pepper, spices and all it so simply cooked that the result is ingenious. Plunging into this picture you feel the grief and the sad position of one person, but during the same moment simply uncontrollably you laugh at jokes of another, and the deep sense of film forces to reflect on a life.
I consider a plot, which is taken from a real life, of huge value. That means that we watch not a film, but someone's life. The plot carries out a huge role in cinema creation, and the more it is exclusive, the more it involves people. Cinema about touching friendship of two absolutely different people, which have met thanks to a lucky coincidence and this accident has changed their life forever. Everyone has taken out only good things from this meeting.
"The Intouchables" is an exceedingly easy, rather sad for the genre, and at the same time, bright film. The excellent humor, which alternates with the dramatic moments, creates a special atmosphere, and you have time to test a full spectrum of feelings for viewing. It would be desirable to note a soundtrack, various and rather qualitative. In some places, music really touches the soul. I would definitely recommend this film to everyone – it would be useful not only for nurses in gerontology as a lesson of being joyful, but for everyone, who wants to gain a lesson in friendship.
