Nursing is a career rooted in service to humanity by facilitating the delivery of quality patient care through consideration of individual patient needs. My nursing philosophy is based on the need to deliver holistic care to patients while considering personal patient values and upholding high professional standards.
Inter-professional partnerships and joint activities between healthcare providers facilitate quality patient care as a central feature of nursing. Health promotion and improving the quality of care are at the core of my nursing philosophy. For as long as I can recall, I felt the call for taking care of those in need, and I believe that this eventually guided me to the nursing career. I am most happy when I serve and take care of others, and my nursing mentality emphasizes service and compassion. The following discussion evaluates key aspects of my nursing philosophy that include nursing, environment, health, and person.
To me, nursing remains more than a career and provides me with a way of attaining personal fulfillment through serving individual patients and my community (Risjord, 2010). Nursing has offered me the opportunity to serve the needful and do something essential for the development and progress of our nation. By providing quality nursing services, I can facilitate general national wellness, better provision of health services, and improved quality of life. I believe that progressively gaining experience and knowledge will enable me to attain higher qualifications, which are essential for improving the nursing service that I offer.
The nursing environment has been rapidly changing over the past few decades. Various practices that were applicable a few years ago are no longer viable (McBride & Tietze, 2019). The changing environment has urged me to adapt by learning new techniques and procedures that inform the current changes. I have also focused on providing a safe and comfortable environment for the patients to enhance their recovery process. By focusing on physical comfort and promoting a positive psychological environment, I can attain patient recovery and quality of care. As a way of acquiring knowledge and experience, I have also shifted my workplace interactions into an environment that enables me to learn and improve other specialists' experiences.
Patients' and personal health are an integral component of my nursing career. My key objective is to ensure that patients get the best possible service that enhances their ability to regain their health without putting anyone else at risk. Keen observation and adherence to the provided policies and procedures remain critical principles that strengthen my ability to deliver health care services to the patients and the community in general (Dahnke & Dreher, 2016). Personal health remains important to me since the only way I can provide health care services is by staying physically and mentally healthy.
A focus on my wellbeing has formed the need to continually participate in activities that ensure I remain a fit health care provider. Personal initiatives in my study, social and professional interaction are based on my belief that I could be the best practitioner in my field. My shared value has also informed this vision with Aventura Hospital of being a partner in healthcare excellence.
