World Vision America is undertaking a nutrition project. This project targets needy and vulnerable children in the developing world. The goal of this project is to ensure that every child enjoys life to the fullest by eliminating malnutrition and any nutrition related conditions and diseases. The cost of this project is dependent on the nutrition assessments and budgets provided by the World Vision branches in these developing countries.
For this project to keep rolling, World Vision engages sponsors who accept to sponsor one child or more. The project manager in the other hand has got the duty of ensuring that the sponsor funds are used with high accountability and transparency. The manager also ensures that the budgets provided by the World Vision offices in the developing countries are funded adequately. This means that the manager must constantly look for sponsors who are willing to sponsor and ensure this nutrition project is sustained.
This project so far has succeeded in meeting the nutrition needs of the children. Indeed it has assisted Sub Saharan countries where malnutrition rate was very prevalent (Fanzo, 21). Good nutrition also means good health, thus the program has helped in meeting millennium development goals. In addition, the sponsors have responded well and have supported the project so far. However this programme failed to ensure that the money collected to support nutrition project in a particular country is used as the sponsor wills. Instead money is collected in a pool, and following the receipts of the budget and concept notes from the World Vision offices in developing country, the money is disbursed.
According to me, I can say that this project has been successful since it has helped in reducing malnutrition rates particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
