Survey Data feedback
In order to address the problems identified in the STP, a survey needs to be conducted to determine factors contributing to low retention rate in some courses and low academic performance (Schmuck et al., 2012). First step in the process is to gather data such as student grades during the past five years particularly in courses where academic level is at the lowest including courses where retention rate is also at the lowest. The collected should be analyze to statistically outline the target areas of improvement, which will enable the proposed intervention such as skills and knowledge enhancement, classroom management and methodologies, and leader and core competency enhancement of the faculty to be effective. The second phase of data gathering activity is to conduct a survey of the faculty, which will determine the current practices, methods, and teaching habits. The results of the survey and data gathering should be discussed with department heads in order to create a more effective enhancement approach.
Training and Education
The results of the survey should become the basis of the training module for the faculty. It is apparent that the proposed changes will include technical enhancement in terms of introducing the faculty to various technological tools that they can utilize for classroom learning. Since one of the identified problems to successful organizational development is resistance to change, the first stages of the training should incorporate a workshop that will introduce the faculty to the concept of innovation and how it can revolutionize teaching practices. Proper mind-setting is key to implementing changes and once the faculty’s perspective is aligned with the objectives of the proposed enhancements, it would be easier fro the organization to proceed with the other improvement areas involving technology.
