‘Giacomo Luciani’gives an insight into the Middle east countries through his Research paper which was published in 2004,‘Oil and Political economy in the international relations of the Middle East’. The author has used triangulation strategy to frame the effective treatment in order to gather desired data for qualitative interpretation and analysis.
Oil which is considered ‘black gold’ has influenced the relations of Gulf countries within and outside the region. It not only fosters the political economy of Middle East but also become the bone of contention internationally. The author has given well documented account of Oil reserves of world and of what 65% is in Gulf Countries. With the discovery of oil in1908 by William Knox, in Persia made Iraq as well as rest of Middle East countries like Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia an international eye candy. At the time the imperial Britain where industrial Revolution had reached its zenith felt a need to switch from coal energy to oil generated energy required for carrying the processes of manufacturing and production. Winston Churchill, the then lord of the Admiralty took the decision of this conversion from coal to oil to run the imperial fleet. Here, author argues that it was a fundamental step which changed the whole game of power in the world. The presence of oil in Middle East created avenue for many international companies. The crumbled Ottoman Empire had left shattered and battered states behind which were now prospering by the oil reserves.
Strictly speaking, the main crux of the paper confronts the inception of effective political economy in the gulf that created a sustainable stand for economic progression of the whole world.
