Online education is gaining pace in most countries. Institutions of higher learning are fast adopting these models of learning as it promises to bridge the gap and enhance the learning process. This is enhanced, further, by the trends in technology. There are many developers who are coming up to develop technologies that are used in online learning. This paper will analyze the views of three authors on the impact of online education on learning.
Educause. “Impact and challenges of e-learning”. Supporting E-learning in Higher Education 3 (2003): 1-7. (http://net.educause.edu/ir/library/pdf/ers0303/rs/ers03036.pdf)
Educause journal argues about the changing needs of the tutors who integrate e-learning to their units. The author brings the important issue of the challenges that instructors and students go through in the process. The author brings the technological aspects that the instructors and the students have to learn. For this reason, the instructor will introduce online learning in small bits till the instructor is sure that they have grasped the concept. Another point of concern from the article is the time that is taken in order to develop an e-learning program. It normally takes time to have the course ready.
Educause states “In many if not many cases, faculty spend substantial time and effort reengineering the course to adapt it for online delivery”. This is normally an issue for most instructors because they are used to traditional pedagogical approaches. Another issue of concern for the author is that there are many technicalities that affect the delivery of the course. One thing that I can say regarding this is that this is no longer a bid issue because there is software that has been developed and has everything that the instructors need.

Online education will change the way content is accessed and thus will change the whole process of learning. It will bridge the gap between learning in poor environments and the developed environments.
