Online Selling of widgets: How to keep privileged and confidential material from being compromised.
The decision by the company to start selling widgets online is a significant landmark in the history of the company. This will ensure that the clientele base is widely increased. Those potential clients will have the chance to view what the company offers without having to visit company outlets. However, this decision to go online comes with several setbacks. The company should put measures in place to prevent the loss of company items through scams (Bergman, 2002). The internet has plenty of scammers who could fleece the company off its goods.
In implementing this online sale, certain precaution measures will be taken. The check out page will require a card security code. This consists of the last three digits on the back of credit cards. The use of this code will prevent the use of stolen credit card numbers. Payment of an order will not be processed until payment is reviewed. This will allow the company to confirm that processing the order is safe. The company will also check the IP address where the order was placed. This address should match with the location where the order was placed. The gateway used should be able to protect by providing filters. These filters will crosscheck customer data for the company (Belew, 2011).
Finally, the company will draft a comprehensive “Terms and Conditions”. This will help prevent cases of customers who complain that they were misled. The description of the products should also be accurate. In conclusion, cases of frauds are rampant online selling. However, it is eminent that most companies are going online. The pros of online selling far much outweigh the cons. The company will increase its sales with its decision to go online.
