The bureaucracy is a very important branch of the congress. It is the bureaucrats who have expertise in policy issues although their work is not majorly to make policies but to interpret and enforce the policies that have been formulated. The congress and the president have to cooperate with the bureaucracy for effective and efficient running of the government. Most people are not conversant with the legal system and that may be the reason why they do not give attention to the bureaucracy. Also there have been efforts by the president to frustrate the bureaucracy in an effort to have their policies approved. The bureaucrats are difficult to convince due to their expertise. They therefore ensure that the congress and the president do not formulate laws that are against societal norms. The public should give more fanfare to this important branch of the congress.
Our courts are not of any importance. The same courts that are supposed to protect the rights and freedoms of the people have been on the front line in violating the rights. Their freedom has largely been compromised making it difficult to get justice. Judges and magistrates are violating professional ethics and even worse going to the extent of receiving bribes. Judges are partisan and their ruling is affected by the party they belong. Prominent politicians use the courts to gain power. They are just a political vehicle. The courts have to reform in terms of ethics. Courts should be given real independence and freedom to deliver justice. If this is not done justice will be a thing of the past and we better scrap the whole judicial system.
The case of gay marriages has often brought a hot debate. The issue is becoming controversial. Different courts have given different rulings on the matter. The Supreme Court should review earlier decisions by the lower courts and give the right ruling. This will enable people to know whether give marriages is their right or not and culminate the debate. People need to know the facts and nothing less than that.
