This is non-profit making organization based in Oregon. It serves the populations at Oregon, Hawaii, Atlanta and Georgia. It was established to be used in helping to strengthen medical care provision in these regions. This was purposely done to help vulnerable groups including the uninsured, the underinsured and indigent people. These are the groups of people who rely on private and public medical facilities in the pursuit of addressing their health issues.
OCHIN is mainly collaboration between the private and public health care providers in this region. As already highlighted, its major concern is to develop a common practice to be used by all the health systems. Most of the people being served are mainly dependant on the community health centers which are not offering high quality services as compared to the private sector. This makes these people be served inefficiently (Borger C, S. et al., 2006).
Therefore, it is upon the medical fraternity to come together under one collaborative body to ensure that there is an improvement in the quality of services being given to them. This is the only way through which medical care can be made accessible to them.
Hence, there has been a development of common practice management system which has of course harmonized the situation. This has helped bridge any gap that could be witnessed in this sector. Through innovations, management has been improved to ensure that all the players are equipped with updated information on the current trends in health care management.
At the same, the development of an Electronic Medical Record has helped to improve record keeping in these facilities. According to series of researches conducted by these professionals, record keeping is an essential aspect of medical management. It is a vital tool in tracing the medical history of a patient. It can also be used in retrieving payment records for all the patients. This is made more efficient especially given that all these data is stored in the computer system. It is more systematic and easier to access and analyze.
It is also a major duty in this network to develop an infrastructure mainly to support research activities for the benefit of the entire community Research is a very important tool in the development of any organization. It is only through it that studies can be conducted to disseminate information that can be used to improve the quality of services. Because of this, a lot of funds have been channeled to carry out an extensive research on better and improved medication that can be used to address the major issues such as HIV and AIDS. The community also educates people and gives them more facts concerning these diseases (Erik C. et al., 2012).
All these efforts have been translated into action. One of the major projects undertaken in the recent past includes supply research initiatives such as project management staff and the development of contacts amongst all the players. This has promoted harmony in the delivery of their services to all their patients.
There has been a very strong initiative towards the execution of projects at hand. As a result of closer collaborations, it has become evident that projects implementation and completion has been done so smoothly. Hence, no project has been left uncompleted mainly because of monitoring throughout the community.
The other project undertaken so far is the development of a web site exclusively aimed at serving community with all the other stakeholders- patients, medical providers, doctors and the financiers. This has been made accessible to all the online users in order to ensure that they are equipped with the relevant and up to date information. It is arguably through such initiatives that OCHIN has managed to beat all the odds in pursuit of addressing all the legal and ethical issues of concern.
