a) CH3CH2 - O - CH2CH2CH2CH3
The name of the compound is 2 hexanone. It is an ketone having the functional group C=O
2 Hexanone is a clear liquid with a boiling point of 151-152 degrees centigrade. It is slightly soluble in water .it is soluble in ether, propylene glycol and alcohol. It is stable under normal conditions but it is highly flammable with a flashpoint of 47 degrees centigrade. This makes it a dangerous chemical. It is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, strong reducing agents and strong bases (Hornback, 2005).
b) CH3CH2 CH (CH3) CH2CH2OH
The name of the compound is 3 METHYL 1 PENTANOL. The Functional Group Is OH For Alcohol. This is a primary alcohol is that is slightly soluble in water has a boiling point of 96 degrees centigrade. It is a volatile colorless liquid with a flash point of minus 40 to 49 degrees centigrade. It is therefore not highly flammable. The use of water spray when fighting fire may not be efficient because of the low flash point of the chemical and it is good to use alternatives like carbon dioxide (Hornback, 2005).
c) CH3 C=OCH2CH2CH2CH3
The name of the compound is 2 HEXANAL. The functional group is C=O for an aldehyde. The product has a boiling temperature of 385.34 Kelvin. It is a flammable liquid and can be ignited by heat or flames. The vapors of the hexanal may form explosive mixtures in air. The vapors of this chemical are heavier than air and can spread along the ground. This liquid is also lighter than water (Hornback, 2005).
