Dear Sir/ Madam,
Personal Statement
As part of my application for scholarship at your esteemed institution, I would hereby like to furnish my personal statement. I am 28 years of age, am married and have two precious children. I have had a lifelong passion towards aeronautics and aviation at large. As such, I have chosen to pursue my education in this field and eventually build a successful and meaningful career in the same. Setting of tangible and achievable short term and long term goals is vital for the fulfillment of one’s dreams. As such, I have identified a string of milestones that I intend to achieve in a phased manner through absolute dedication and focused effort.
In terms of education and career, I would like to attain a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautic Science. I would like to acquire this with two minors, which would be Flying and Aviation Safety. I would then also pursue a CFI license that would permit me to become a pilot instructor within the university. Through this medium, I will be able to effectively begin my career in the aviation industry. It will also allow me to pass on my knowledge to other aviation enthusiasts and begin to make an immediate contribution to the aviation industry. This would be the first milestone achieved. The next would be to pursue a Masters degree in Aeronautical Science with two minors, being Operations and Management. I would then like to work towards a PhD in Aerospace Engineering. Through these efforts, I aim to gain thorough knowledge of the various facets of aeronautics and aviation. Having pursued a well plotted career graph and acquired a holistic understanding, my ultimate milestone is to become the Chief Executive Office of Saudi Arabian Airlines.
I have already made a beginning towards fulfilling my ambitions. Having completed a diploma in aircraft maintenance and being given the Airframe & Power plant or A&P License in 2004, I began working at Saudi Arabian Airlines in 2005 as an aircraft maintenance technician. My performance at work was rewarded by a promotion to the position of Maintenance Recovery Group Supervisor in 2009. I also undertook numerous courses pertaining to the aviation industry, human factor and safety. As a result, I acquired over 1000 credit hours in courses. While my 6 years experience and training at Saudi Arabian Airlines was highly enriching, I chose to discontinue the employment in 2011 in favor of pursuing higher education in the industry that I love – aviation.
In addition to these achievements, I have a TOEFL score of 89 and have maintained a GPA of 4.0 throughout my time at the university, as a result of which I have been on the Dean’s list of top performers twice. I also have a certificate for being a private, instrument and commercial pilot with over 274 flying hours. I believe the experience and knowledge that I have acquired through my employment as well as personal development efforts have armed me with the level of competency required to qualify for my chosen field of study.
This scholarship is extremely important for my growth in the aviation industry as well as the fulfillment of my dreams and ambitions. I do not lack in my commitment and dedication towards aviation, however, as I have a family that entirely depends on me, I am unable to meet the financial requirements of pursuing further education. The scholarship will give me the opportunity to reach the next milestone of my journey towards excellence in the Saudi Arabian aviation sector.
