Define organization transformation. How is it different from organization development?
Transformation in organization is the strategically planned change within the setting of the organization (Levy and Merri, 1986). Once the change is initiated it changes the nature of thinking as well as the behaviour of the members of the organization. Organizational transformation is different from organizational development in that it brings changes to the current operating system of the organization.
What are the environmental and internal disruptions that can affect an organization? Give current examples of each and explain why you selected them as examples.
Transformational change is brought about by the macro and the micro environment. The micro environment is the internal environment of the organization. This environment includes factors that the organization can simply control such as the organizational structure and behavior amongst other factors. The macro environment includes the external factors. The organization does not have control over these factors hence cannot control change that occurs due to them. The legal framework, cultural and political factors have been considered to be some of the main constituents of an organizations environment (Wardel, Cummings and Wardel, 2011).
What are the key features of integrated strategic change (ISC) and how are they related to each other?
Change includes integrated strategic change in the organization. This type of change has some characters which include; the strategic orientation, strategic plan development and commitment in implementing the change. All these characters of integrated strategic change have to operate as a single unit so as to be fully effective in the organizational setting.
Explain what is meant by organization design. What difficulties would you expect if you intended to change an organization in this manner?
The organization’s structure, management, design of work and human resources management constitute what is referred to as organizational design (Waddel, Cummings and Worley, 2011). These aspects should be adopted separately for the efficiency of the organization because they have significant to the behaviour of the employees.
Explain the difference between mechanistic and organic design and give examples.
The mechanistic and organic designs are the major components of organizational design. The mechanistic design deals with all the strategies that may be applied to optimise costs. The organic design on the contrary is focused on increasing efficiency through innovation (Waddel, Cummings and Worley, 2011).
Define organisational culture. What are the major elements at different levels of awareness?
The perceptions and beliefs of any organization in relation to values is referred to as organizational culture. The culture of any organization gives a sense of direction to the employees in relation to the objectives of the organization. The culture of any organization involves the upholding of particular norms or rules by the staff members.
