Leadership is a vital tool in any progressing organization. Contemporary world has completely embraced and ingrained leadership in the organizational structure. Worth mentioning is the fact that organization goals and objective have been easily attained through leadership. A clear understanding of leadership, therefore, is the ability to inspire the team members to follow your vision. The employee charged with the onus of leadership must, therefore, possess all the leadership qualities. The fact is not all employees can lead, however, only the employees who have evinced the leadership traits should lead. Findings further elaborate that leadership comes without learning, but its enhancement is possible through coaching and mentorship. A leader is a person who carries the vision of the organization (Johansen, 2012). In line with the mentioned obligation, the organization must meticulously scrutinize and choose wisely whoever should lead the teams. Advisedly, the CEO of any organization should not let employees emerge for the leadership position but should appoint a leader from the teams. Bearing in mind that CEO is clearly aware of the leadership qualities, he/she should then choose the employee who possesses the leadership qualities. The paper seeks to elucidate the reasons why the CEO should pick a leader from the team.
As pointed earlier in the introduction, the cornerstone of any vibrant organization is the leadership. Through proper leadership, organizational can achieve its set goals and objectives. Organization that permits the employees to emerge for the leadership position might face myriad challenges. Employees with leadership qualities might show reluctance for the leadership position, and only employees who are devoid of leadership skills might emerge to leadership positions. As a matter of fact, for a team to attain the set goal the CEO of the organization must critically evaluate and examine the employee in the team who possess the leadership position. Notably, not any employee from the team can ascend to the leadership position but only the employee who has showcased the traits of leadership.
In assigning a leader for the team, I will strictly focus on the employee who honest and humble. A point to note is that honesty is a virtue that calls for trust from the entire team. Advisedly, the team member interest is on a leader who is honest in terms of action and conduct. Also, humility is desirable character that the team members expect from a leader. Prevalently, honesty coupled with humility will make the team trust and express confidence in the chosen leader. Moreover, I will choose an employee who is committed to his/her work. Commitment is a symbol of a hardworking employee, through commitment the team members will follow the vision of the leader; the best way to lead is by setting examples (Adair, 2010). The person that I will choose must possess, also, he/she must ensure the team shares his/her vision, through shared vision, lays a shared success. In view of the mentioned vision, I will assign a leader who has a vision.
The chosen leader must be a person who is full of inspiration. Typically, a leader must inspire the team to follow his/her vision. Most importantly, attainment of goals and objectives of the team lies with the vision of the leader. An employee who compels the team to follow his/her vision is not a leader. On the other hand, an employee who inspires the team to adhere to his/her vision is a leader. My choice, therefore, goes to a leader who is inspirational. Also, I will settle on an employee, who is motivational, a leader must positively influence the team to attain the set goals and objectives. At some instance, the employees may face despondency, at such a state the employees need a person who will keenly listen to them and later motivate to revamp the team spirit.
Apparently, innovation and creativity are tools needed to move the organization from point x to point y. The employee that I will choose must possess creativity; generation of new and brilliant ideas only emanate from visionary leaders; a person who is unable to come up with new ideas is not a leader. Imperatively, organizations who soar to high levels are the ones with creative leaders. I will choose an employee who is full of confidence and calmness. The mentioned confidence will set the ball wrong, and the team will replicate the same confidence in their obligation. Calmness is a virtue that makes the employee adores you, that is why I will give it a high priority in my choice (Loritts, 2009). In addition to calmness, a leader must have a positive attitude towards work and should be in a position to influence the team to ingrain positive attitude towards the set goals and objective. Lastly, I will assign a person who communicates clearly to the team; communication enables the team to know organizational expectation.
