Response describing and analyzing
Oscar Proud is an African American character featured in the film The Proud Family Movie in a television program The Proud Family. He is voiced and portrayed by Tommy Davidson. Oscar Proud has been displayed as a hardworking proprietor who seems to care less about what people say about his products, which are mainly snacks. Out of his many customers, only one person seems to be enjoying them yet he persists in selling the product (Fearn-Banks, 135). He has also been displayed weak when it comes to the opposite gender. He has a caring family yet he cannot help admiring other women. This got so worse that he almost cheated on his wife by admiring another man’s wife.
Basically Oscar Proud is a trouble makers. He makes trouble and causes trouble. He is a constant irritation, from making bad snacks to ruining families. He is considered by many a failure who is not willing to make life interesting by changing the way he does things. Despite all his weaknesses and the way people look at him, he is a man who loves his family and would do anything to ensure they are happy (Fearn-Banks, 465). The most interesting about Oscar Proud is the fact that he is focused and stable. He believes in what he does and accepts his weaknesses. He does not allow what people think and say about him to weigh his career and relationships down. He counters his weaknesses by being the best husband and father he can be. Even though people do not like his snacks, most of them respect him. Oscar Proud is also self-centered and protective and mainly thinks about his family above all else. He seems to care less about how many people he hurts or hurts him as long as his family and money are intact. Family and money seems to be the main driving force in his life.
