I can overcome obstacles by encouraging multidisciplinary collaboration and patient-centeredness in service delivery. The multidisciplinary approach would focus on the importance of teamwork in service patient care. It helps reduce chances of burnout and miscommunication. On the other hand, patient-centeredness directs nurses to consider their patient’s views during the caregiving process (Epstein & Street, 2011).
I can apply both approached to my change project by emphasizing on patient-centeredness and multidisciplinary organization, unlike the normal routine practices. Patient-centeredness ensures innovativeness plays a vital role in reducing the length of stay/excess days. In my clinical setting, I will also look into enhancing caregiver satisfaction by using communication as a tool to help transform the organizational culture. The approaches will consider a reduction in length of stay as an objective that maximizes efficiency. On a similar note, both approaches will play a vital role in helping create a healthy relationship between nurses and patients. The eventual result is the creation of an environment tailored to meet my objective (Saha, Beach, & Cooper, 2008).
Buckley, Burns, and Bleck (2005) show the applicability of the UVA Health System systematic approach in the clinical setting. The approach targets adult patients in a long-term care setting to help enhance their experiences. According to Buckley et al. (2005), the approach’s main concern is to improve outcomes and the efficient use of hospital resources as the ultimate project outcomes. Adequately addressed is the role of teamwork in various hospital processes for improved efficiency. For instance, improved service delivery would focus on checklists, role assignment, patient preparation, and essential practices.
