This will be a reflection about one of the Newberry books. It will discuss how this book was selected compared to other Newberry books. Last it will give a reason of how this book is important. Winning a Newberry Award is a high honor for a children author. It considered the greatest dream for aspiring children writers. This essay will reflect over the Newberry selection of Moon over Manifest by Clare Vanderpool. A book to be chosen for the Newberry Award there is a conference held yearly mostly with librarians and sometimes other professions relating to the field. They read countless books, and they look for the book that speaks. It is the author style and how they wrote the story, plus if there were any historical or actual event, and create it all into one. Reading Moon over Manifest takes a reader into the time. The author does it so well; it as the reader can see and feel the surroundings as the story goes. This book involved the stories of Manifest town and the story of Abilene. The author takes the reader and toggles back and forth between these two stories. While doing so, we discover that Manifest has mysteries that come define and Abilene get her reason with learning and adventure to lead her to accept. While all this is done, there are more stories coming out. This is what makes the book special in one-way. Again, the style of writing; writing is an art. Vanderpool created a masterpiece the readers can share and experience from beginning to the end. This book also has in-depth history with the settings of the story. It was done in the way that makes 1930’s era history seem like a carnival of fun. She does not bore the reader in the way with the history. In fact, she entices the readers’ interests to learn more about the history of not only manifest but the history of Abilene. That is another part that defines this book and makes it rich. It causes this book to be outstanding with the details of the history and how the author presented it. Again, it makes the reader feeling like going back in time. There are no particular set guidelines when they committee is choosing a book for the Newbury award. It a matter of finding the book that has that spark regardless of the topic that incorporates readers. The author Jennifer Holm won the Newberry Award won the award twice. Her one book Turtle in Paradise is supposed to be a book that also embraces readers with the history. The book is supposed to be seen through the eyes of the little girl whom mom worked as a housemaid. This book is historical and enlighten lesson like the book of Vanderpool. Again, it not that history is a requirement to win the Newberry Award. Again, there are no special guidelines for this. To achieve this victory, it must be a masterpiece. It emphasizes the beauty of how writing is creativity and can be formed of art. This book was also probably selected to teach children the lessons that the main character did, so they can have them a mentor. They can have a system of belief that all things are impossible even during the hardest times. This book also provides that, courage. Courage is seen in countless other books that have won Newberry Award. Again, it the style of how that was done that caught the eye. It a style that cannot repeat by someone. Just like there John Updike with his stories with his magnificent craft; no one could craft his style. It a writing style that defines itself. That is what the committee is looking for when they are selecting the Newberry Award. When these books are chosen, even years later they are remembered and cherished; by book lovers like Robert Frost or CS Lewis or Tolkien; or any writer that has left a footprint on the hearts of the booklore. Some people claim that the Newberry Award is similar to the Oscar. In the words of books, most books lovers would agree with that. The one that will always be is why this book was choosing over another. Even though they have a Newberry Award Honor list, countless booklore feels other authors should have been given that award. Book lovers take their books to heart and soul. Those who are readers and writers are even more obsessive with books if that even possible. There will be full crowds when the libraries have their friend’s books sales. Because of these lovers of books, because of people desire to be the author. The countless authors that have made it; there are the Newberry Awards and other awards from the book world. This is book lovers’ big night when the Newberry Award winners are announced. Come explore these books, regardless of individual age, take a sip into the Newberry Award of books.
