How can psychology benefit my nursing career
Among the social science for me the most interesting discipline is psychology. I am a neonatal intensive nurse who is working with a lot of the kids while the parents psychology contributes to the formation of social and psychological competence of nurses. The basis of clinical competence of neonatal intensive nurse should be based on the socio-psychological culture which implies the ability to communicate with the patient, family members, colleagues, administration. This subject will prepare me for the career development and attitudes that contribute to conscious planning and career development.
Psychological incompetence for neonatal intensive nurses entails negative consequences for health, psycho-social and economic aspects of hospitals. Advanced implementation of psychology courses will help to respond to verbal and non-verbal signs of patients and to retrieve important information. Psychological knowledge is included in the target component of my career structure and acts as one of the professional development of regulatory mechanisms. Psychology forms my career orientations that are largely influenced by professionally important qualities: professional knowledge, career goal setting, career ability to solve problems, rather than personal characteristics. Psychology helps to achieve the consent of a patient with a treatment plan, as communication skills training has a positive effect on the patient's consent to make prescribing it.
My career orientation is an important element for the professional “self-concept" that occurs as a result of accumulation of professional experience. This individual will assist in the purchase of specific concepts related to professional and personal future. I focused on the acquisition of knowledge and skills, so I strive to become a professional. Knowledge of psychology involves a comprehensive vision of the mutual influence of the disease process, the patient's personality and social environment. Using of socio-psychosomatic approach in my professional activities can improve the quality of the diagnostic and treatment process.
