Introduction
In the book of Romans, Paul looks at the theme that humans are lost without the gospel. The gospel in this case refers to the teaching contained in the first four books of the bibles new testament. These books are; Mathew, Mark, Luke and John. All these books have the same theme and shade light the life of Jesus Christ and his teachings on various topics. How Jesus was sent by the father to save the world from sin by paying the ultimate price of death. Though he was blameless and did not deserve to die like he did on the cross. His teachings on how human beings should relate with each other and their father and almighty God in heaven among many other among many their themes.According to Paul, in the book of Romans Christians would be lost if they did not hold on to Jesus’ teachings found in the Pentateuch.
Body
Firstly, from the excerpt given, Paul shades light on the fact that the gospel is universal. He states clearly that anyone that chooses to believe in Christ will be saved. Initially, Jews believed that salvation was for them alone. This changed, however, when Christ came and taught that salvation was for everyone. Jew or not, by faith anyone who chose to believe the gospel and in Jesus would receive salvation. Paul goes ahead to quote the bible by saying that it is written that one who is righteous by faith will live
In the second paragraph of the excerpt, Paul looks at the wickedness of those who choose not to believe and the punishment that awaits them. These people include idolaters and those people that suppress the truth by their wicked ways. He says that God will rain his wrath on them for they do not have an excuse for their evil ways. This is because God, though being invisible to them, has revealed himself through his creation. These people therefore, have known the truth but have failed to give God the honor and respect he deserves. As a result of their rebellion through worship of other gods, God is going to punish them. This excerpt serves to shade light on the theme that humans are lost without the gospel. It is evident that those that do not follow the gospel are doomed to perish in Gods wrath.
In the last paragraph of the excerpt, Paul looks at the types of evil that people engage in despite knowing God's stand on such things and the penalty of death that awaits those that defile themselves in such evil. He gives an example of homosexuality that was not in Gods plan, men lusting after men as well as women lusting after fellow women. They exalt themselves, gossip, commit murder and are envious of their fellow men. They indulge in all this kinds of evil and even approve of others that practise them despite knowing its against Gods will. God has delivered them to their impurities due to their stubborn nature and is going to punish them by death. All this points to the fact that those that are lacking in faith shall surely perish in accordance to the scripture and serves to emphasize the theme that humanity is lost without the gospel.
Conclusion
In a nutshell, from the excerpt taken from the book of Romans written by Paul, human beings shall surely die by the wrath of God through the failure to adhere to the gospel. The excerpt clearly summarizes Pauls thoughts about the gospel and its importance to human beings as a way of salvation. This is because it highlights the various evils that human beings engage in and the stand of the gospel according to Christ against such evils. It goes ahead to show that the result of adherence to the teachings in the gospel is imminent death by the hand of God in his wrath.
