Peer review is in certain instance referred to as referencing.it involves the subjection of scholarly work by an author to the detailed scrutiny of other experts in the same field before the paper can achieve widespread approval and publication in any particular journal. The work of an author may be deemed acceptable or rejected with good reasons by the peers performing the review.

This is evident when he asks the audience whether or not they would like to aid their local economy by consuming Brussels’ sprouts. This local economy is none other than that of California since this is the state that benefits the most from Brussels’ sprouts.

The author uses this word to hint at the general perception of the public on Brussels’ sprouts yet in the essay proceeds to provide evidence that is protagonist towards the consumption of Brussels’ sprouts.
Analysis of the essay portrays the author as a nutrition expert and an activist for better eating methods. The author is relentless in telling the audience the health benefits of consuming Brussels’ sprouts and supporting his claims with strong evidence and referencing. This alludes to a person who is either an expert on matters nutrition or a thorough researcher who has carried out extensive and exhaustive research on the matter and has all the facts as well as the fiction at hand.
In this essay the author makes extensive use of rhetorical questions to get the main point across without arousing any ill emotions. The author also employs paradox when it comes to what is best for eating. The opening paragraph generally gives a summary of the entire essay. This paragraph introduces the main points of the essay which are later discussed in subsequent paragraphs. An example is the statement that Brussels’ sprouts boost the local economy of California.
