All nurse practitioners of any clinical specialty can only qualify for certification after successful completing a master’s or post-master's nurse practitioner program approved by the board or holding certification from another nationally recognized board (Nursing Act., art. 8. sec 1).
Nurse practitioners after the completion of relevant educational programs have to be accredited by the either the American Nurses Association or American Nurses Credentialing Center certification; after a successful application and paying the prerequisite fees (Nursing Act., art. 8. sec 4).
